Condition 4 NOTES NOTES

1. Engine speed of approximately 45% N2.

Objectives
1. Release latching circuit terminating start of right engine.
24 2. Close power relay to connect right generator to feed bus.

Sequence of Events
1. Start is terminated as:
A. Speed sensing monopole provides inputs in on pins X and Y
of the GCU.
B. GCU logic interrupts power out on pin J of the GCU
C. This releases the latching circuit of pin 3 of the PCB affecting
the following circuits.
1. PAL relay (K1) opens.
2. Start relay circuit opens as ground is removed on pin 6.
2. Power relay is closed as:
A. If generator switch in ON, power is applied to pin 12 of the
start PCB.
B. GCU logic allows power to continue out on pin L of GCU to
pin 4 of start PCB.
C. Power is on pins 4 and 12 to the PAL energizes the circuit that
provides a ground for pin 14.
3. An input on pin 18 of the right start PCB provides generator power
to the PAL.

Condition 8 6. Power to PAL from pin 3 of start PCB activates the following NOTES
circuits.
1. Air start (right engine)
1. Ground on pin 6 of right start PCB energizes the start relay
closed.
Objectives
2. Start relay circuit and PAL relay (K1) circuit are latched
1. Open battery relay. ON.
24 7. Start switch is released removing ground on pin 23 of start PCB.
NOTE
Battery used to start right engine and left generator pro- NOTES
vides power to power distribution system except right
generator bus.

2. Initiate the right start circuit.

3. Latch the start circuit.

Sequence of Events
1. No ground of pin 7 (left squat switch) of either start PCB prevents
closing the left start relay.
2. Momentary ground on pin 23 of right start PCB initiates the start
sequence.
3. Battery relay opens when:
A. Inputs on pins 3, 4, and 15 of the right start PCB opens the
ground on pin 17.
B. Inputs on pins 4, 12, 5, and 15 of the left start PCB opens the
ground on Pin 17.
4. Power output from PAL causes K1 PAL relay to initially energize,
closing 2 sets of contacts.
A. One set of contacts short Pins 21 and 22 of start PCB together
disabling ground fault sensing circuit of GCU.
B. Other set of contacts apply power to pin 10 of the start PCB.
The following circuits are affected.
1. Overhead floodlights ON full bright.
2. Power to pin 5 of ignition PCB (no effect until throttle is
positioned in idle).
3. Power to pin 7 of fuel PCB causing fuel boost pump to come
ON.
4. Power to pin A of GCU.
5. Power on pin A of GCU supplies power on pins J and L to pins 3
and 4 of the right start PCB.

TRANSFER FUEL SYSTEM OPERATION NOTES NOTES

Conditions
1. BATTERY switch ON.
2. FUEL BOOST switch normal.
3. Both engines running.
4. FUEL TRANSFER switch selected LEFT TANK TO RIGHT
TANK.

Objective
1. Left boost pump on.
28
2. Transfer valve open.

Sequence of Events
1. Positive potential applied to pins 8 and A1 of the right fuel PCB
from their respective circuit breakers.
2. Ground applied to pin 3 of the right fuel PCB from the RH FUEL
BOOST switch.
3. Ground applied to pin 5 of the left fuel PCB from the TRANSFER
switch.
4. Positive potential output from pin A2 of the left fuel PCB to pin
A of the left boost pump connector.
5. Circuit completed from pin B of the left boost pump connector
to the LH FUEL BOOST ON annunciator and white light is
illuminated.
6. Circuit completed to ground from pin C of the left boost pump
connector.
7. Positive potential output on pin 12 of the left fuel PCB to pin C
of the transfer valve.
8. Transfer valve opens as circuit is completed to ground through
pin A of the transfer valve.
9. When the transfer valve opens, a ground to the FUEL TRANSFER
annunciator is provided from pin B of the transfer valve to cause
the light to illuminate.

NOTES:

(1) Takeoff thrust is obtained when TLA is in the takeoff position. Takeoff thrust settings are defined in the Williams International approved N1 power setting charts in the applicable engine parts list. Time at takeoff thrust is limited to 5 minutes maximum (or 10 minute
s in emergency
single engine climb) and beginning when the thrust lever is advanced for takeoff thrust.
(2) Maximum continuous thrust is obtained when the TLA is in the maximum continuous thrust position. Maximum cruise thrustsi obtained when TLA is in the maximum cruise position. Maximum continuous and maximum cruise thrust settings are defined in theWilliams
International approved N1 power setting charts in the applicable engine parts list. Continuous operation is acceptable provided engine limits are not ex ceeded.
(3) Minimum oil pressure is 45 psig when operating at or above 80% N2; 35 psig when operating below 80% N2.
(4) When operating below 80% N2 for up to 5 minutes maximum.
(5) When operating above 80% N2 for up to 5 minutes maximum.
(6) Maximum allowable oil pressure is 100 psig for 5 minutes with oil pressure returning to normal range.
(7) The engine should not be operated above 80% N2 until oil temperature is above 10°C.
(8) Maximum bleed extraction during start is limited to equivalent flow through a 0.222 square inch sharp edge orifice.
(9) Maximum HP bleed extraction is 90 pounds per minute.

HIGH POWER RUN PROCEDURES H. Monitor the engine ITT to determine if it is within allowable NOTES
limits. Refer to Figure 71-12. If not, shut down engine and refer
A. Set generator—OFF to “Troubleshooting (High ITT)” in the FJ44-3A Williams Line
B. Set bleed air—OFF Maintenance Manual.
I. Monitor the engine N2 speed to determine if it is within allowable
limits. Refer to Figure 71-13. If not, shut down engine and refer
WARNING to “Troubleshooting (Overspeed N2)” in the FJ44-3A Williams
Line Maintenance Manual.
1. Make sure that the people at work near the aircraft J. Move power lever to IDLE position, with a 2-minute cool down
know of the areas that are dangerous. This makes sure at flight idle. After cool down, select ground idle.
that people are not killed or badly injured.
K. Shut down the engine.
2. M ake sure that people do not wear loose clothing
(coats, jackets, caps, and scarves) near the engine while NOTES
it operates. Make sure that the hoods on parkas are not
loose.

CAUTION
Make sure that no material or equipment on the ground
can go into the engine air intake. Ingestion of foreign
objects causes damage to the engine and/or a decreased
performance of the engine.

C. Start the engine.

D. Run the engine at ground idle for at least 2 minutes.

NOTE
The OAT indicator reading must be within ±3°C of actual
airfield ambient temperature.

71-80 E. Observe N2 speed and outside air temperature (OAT) and compare
to Figure 71-9.
1. Ground idle speed must be ±0.5% N2 the value shown in Figure
71-9.
2. Select flight idle. Flight idle speed must be ±0.5% N2 the value
shown in Figure 71-10.
3. If either speed exceeds limit, shut down engine and refer to
“Troubleshooting” in the FJ44-3A Williams Line Maintenance
Manual.
F. To determine the takeoff thrust N1 speed setting, refer to Figure
71-11.
G. S lowly advance the power lever to takeoff TLA position and
stabilize for 2 minutes.
