Cabinet Body Assembly

The Cabinet Body Assembly consists of four major assemblies: the Main Cabinet Assembly, the
Main Door, the Belly Door Assembly and the Monitor Door Assembly.
There are three lock assemblies mounted on the right side of the cabinet. The front lock (Belly
Door Lock) secures the Belly Door. A large button at the side of the door assembly (Just below the
lock itself) once depressed opens the belly door for access to the Bill Acceptor Cashbox Door; the
middle door lock (Main Door Lock) secures the Main Door Locking Bar. A knurled lever (Main Door
Release) protruding from the right side of the machine below this lock opens the Main Door. The
rear lock is a switch (Credit Reset / Audit Mode Switch) that enables the operator to perform Credit
Reset and Audit Mode functions.

Note Validator
The Note Validator receives notes that are entered through the Note Bezel and accepts or rejects
notes by testing them. If the Note Validator rejects a note, the note returns to the player through
the Note Validator Bezel. If the Note Validator accepts the note, it adds the value of the note in
credits to the Credit Meter, and the note is guided into the Note Stacker for storage.

Note: The Note Validator Head can be separated on a pivot to provide access to clear minor note
jam clearances.

The Note Validator incorporates an illuminated bezel that indicates to the player whether the Note
Validator can accept notes and a label showing which denominations. The illuminated bezel
incorporates rows of LED’s which normally illuminate sequentially, indicating that notes may be
entered into the machine. Constant illumination of a single row of LED’s indicates a Validator fault.

Note Stacker
The Note Stacker provides a secure facility for storing notes (up to 500) accepted by the Note
Validator. After removing the Note Stacker from the machine, unlock the Note Stacker lock to
remove the notes. The interior of the stacker accommodates a mechanism that retains the notes
under spring tension once they have been inserted.

Basic Operation

Power
Power Up
When the machine has been set up, turn it on using the EGM Main Power Switch located on left
hand side of the Logic Cage. When the machine is switched on it undergoes an initialisation
sequence where many testing functions are carried out automatically. If the machine passes the
Self Audit Tests during initialisation the Game Display Screen will be automatically displayed after
approximately 45 – 60 seconds.
The machine will display an Initialisation screen. If this is a cold power up since manufacture or
NVRAM Reset, the Machine Configuration Page will then be displayed.
This screen requires the operator to set and save certain parameters. This screen contains all the
information relating to the identification and configuration of the machine. If the machine has
previously stored configuration you can opt to copy from the E2PROM.

Play Mode
The machine can be deemed to be in Play Mode when the machine is turned on (and initialization
has taken place), the Main Door is closed and locked and no active lockup conditions exist.
Indications that the game is available for play are the illumination of the lamps in the buttons on
the Button Panel to attract player attention. Other visual indications include “PLAY NOW” being
displayed in the Status Display and the absence of the Message Panel display (which would
obscure the game reels).

Game Display
There are several game options available for the A560 EGM, however the operation of the machine
and the game functions are not changed between the different game features. As the A560 has
dual 22” LCD Panels different sections of the game display will be shown on the two monitors
simultaneously.

A560 Mounting Instructions

The A560 is supplied with an installation kit; some parts in this kit may vary depending on the
Jurisdiction the machine is installed in. However the hardware to bolt the machine to a
base/console will remain the same. Below is a sample of an A560 installation kit that is supplied
and also the bolting down hardware contained with in it. (Photos are for reference purposes only).

Inside the installation kit you will find 3 x M8 x 60mm Cup Head Bolts, 3 x M8 Hex head Nuts and 3
x M8 flat washers. Ainsworth recommends the use of the mentioned mounting hardware to bolt
the A560 to any base /console approved for gaming machine use.

The following 3D drawing of the A560 base plate details the appropriate holes for the mounting of
the A560 machine to an approved base/console.
Ainsworth recommends a minimum of 3 bolts be used for the mounting of the machine. Prior to
installation the venue will need to mark out the hole locations before bolting the machine down to
the approved base/console.

The recommended holes to use for the mounting bolts are as follows:

A. The front left mounting hole as you are standing at the front of the machine.

B. The left rear hole as you are standing in front of the machine; it is located in front of the
Power Supply.

C. The rear hole just left of the Service Hole used for running the power and system data
cables.

If the service hole in the venue base/console is larger then the service hole in the base of the
machine it may not be appropriate to use the bolt hole in location “C”. As a result AGT recommend
using bolt hole location “D” as an alternative.

D. This hole is located on the right rear of the base plate and is behind the Bill Validator
Assembly and Cashbox coin chute.

Hopper Test (Con’t)

Hopper Level
The hopper level sensor is used by the machine software to determine whether the hopper is full
and to switch the diverter to the Cashbox.
If the coins within the hopper do not touch the protruding sensor on the inside of the hopper then a
hopper level NOT FULL will be displayed. The protruding sensor is situated along the vertical metal
strip on the left hand side of the hopper unit.
There are a series of holes along this strip; these holes are used to adjust the height of the sensor
which invariably adjusts the volume of coins needed to report a hopper FULL state.
NOTE: It is possible to toggle the hopper FULL state with a piece of wire by joining the circuit.
1. Place one end of the wire onto the round metal plate which is situated on the base inside
the hopper.
2. With the other end of the wire touch the top of the vertical metal strip on the left hand side
of the hopper unit.
This connection will create a hopper FULL state. By removing the wire; the loop will again be
broken and a hopper NOT FULL status will be reported.
Hopper
Level
Sensor.

Metal
Strip.

Connection Status
Disconnecting or connecting the hopper will report the status of the hopper. Again ensure correct
status is being reported and the sensor is not faulty.

Coin Out Sensor

The coin out sensor is used by the software to determine how many coins are being dispensed by
the machine. It is imperative that this sensor is functioning correctly as a failure of this sensor
would result in incorrect metering.
The coin out sensor is an optical sensor and once the optical signal is broken the software
interprets this as a coin out. So if this sensor is broken 5 times the machine interprets this as 5
coins dispensed by the hopper.
It is possible to test the functionality of the sensor by holding a coin within the exit point on the
hopper (where the coins are ejected from the unit); this will break the optical sensor and register
on the screen as Coin Out Sensor BLOCKED.
BLOCKED Again ensure the reported status is correct.

Coin Validator Test

The purpose of this test is to allow the user to test thoroughly the Coin Validator,
Diverter and allow the user to verify how the software acknowledges all the relevant hardware
signals.
Some elements within this test can be performed within the Hopper Test but ideally this is the
function to select for testing the Coin Validator. Unlike Hopper test you are not required to access
coins which are part of the EGM's takings. For this test you need at least one coin.
Note: Software will not allow the test to be performed with the Main Door closed. The reasoning
behind this is so the test coins will not end up within the actual hopper and Cashbox where the
venue takings are held.
This function allows the testing of 4 main areas in regards to coin insertion:
- Disabling / Enabling the Coin Validator.
- Ability to set the Coin diverter to Cash Box or Hopper.
- Coin Validator pulse counts.
- Coin In count.
Disabling the Coin Validator should not allow coins to be accepted in the Cash Box or
Hopper and all the pulse counts should not increment. The coin should be rejected and diverted to
the Chip Tray.

1. Select the ENABLE icon to disable / enable the Coin Validator.

Once the Coin Validator is enabled you can set the diverter to Cashbox or Hopper.
Coins that are inserted now will be accounted for by the software.

2. Select the TOGGLE DIVERTER icon to set the Diverter to the Hopper/Cashbox position
Note: The open position of the Main Door changes the angle of the Coin Chute to the Cash Box. If
the coin cannot be retrieved with the Diverter set to Cash Box close the
Main Door partially.
As an example if 10 coins are inserted into the Coin Validator with the diverter set to
Hopper for the depositing of 4 coins and then set to Cash box for the remaining 6 coins, the VACS
and Credit Count on screen should total 10. The Coin in Count should also display 10 coins. The
Hopper and Cashbox however should display 4 and 6 coins respectively.
If there are any discrepancies there is most likely a problem with the Diverter. The Coin
Validator should be disabled and the matter should be brought to the attention of a licensed
technician.

- Select the RESET

RESET COUNTERS icon to reset the counters on this display.

A560 Service Manual
New South Wales
985 090 – 01

If coins are not accepting or rejecting correctly, the Coins Validator Pulse Counts will give you an
indication of where the fault lies.
- The VACS (Valid Advanced Coin Signal) Pulse Count reads the number of coins that
have been accepted as electrically valid by the Coin Validator.
- The Credit Pulse Count reads the number of coins that have passed the Validator
Gate and entered the machine.

The two counters should match exactly and should increment from 1 to 10 as you insert the coins.
• If the Coin Validator is ENABLED and
- The VACS Pulse Count increments but the coin rejects, the Coin Validator is faulty or
the Validator Gate is stuck in a closed position.
- The VACS Pulse Count does not increment but the coin is allowed to pass into the
machine (you see the Credit Pulse Count increment), the Coin Validator is faulty or
the Validator Gate is stuck in the open position.
• If the Coins Validator is DISABLED and
- The coin is accepted and the Credit Pulse Count increment then the Validator Gate is
stuck in the open position.

Note Validator Test

Use the Note Validator Test to prove the operation of the Note Acceptor. This test has the
advantage that inserted notes are returned immediately and not guided to the stacker.
Note: Only enabled note denominations can be recognised.
- Insert banknotes into the Note Acceptor.
The value of each note is displayed if it is correctly recognised.
If banknotes are not being registered it can only be one of two things, either the note is badly
damaged and cannot be verified by the reader or that the Note Validator head is faulty and could
need replacing.

- Select the Back icon to exit the Note Validator Test.

*Please Note* If the EGM has Ticket In enabled this test can be completed using Tickets.

test that initiates the Printer to print out a test page.
Note: Upon entering this page if there is an outstanding fault with the Printer, such as a paper jam
for example, it would be reported on screen. You cannot start the Printer Test until all printer
faults are cleared.
- Select the PRINT icon to initiate the Printer Test.

When the test print is completed the line “Test complete – SUCCESSFUL will be displayed. If the
printer has a problem printing out the test page the message displayed would be “Test complete –
FAILURE”.

Software Assertion Error

When a Software Assertion Error occurs, the machine attempts to display its stored data so you
can write it down.
The following procedure assumes that the screen is displaying a “Software Assertion Error”
message. The screen shown below should automatically appear.
If the system is able to read the metering information from its memory, it displays the screen
below. Yellow digits are those the machine is sure are correct; digits that are light blue are very
likely wrong.

Error Messages

This table is the complete list of error and status messages. The most common causes and
remedies are also listed.
After clearing faults, use the CREDIT RESET / AUDIT MODE SWITCH to reset the machine.
In the table below, the response “Decision” indicates that the operator needs to consider what
action to take. Usually the significance of the message is “information only”: for example, when the
message displays while a technician is working on the machine. However, if the message displays
for no apparent reason, it may be an indication that the operator must take action.

This chapter provides information relating to the various Audit Mode functions of the machine,
including the Reset / Audit Mode Switch and the Audit Mode Menu.
Reset / Audit Mode Switch
The Reset / Audit Mode Switch can be turned in two directions and incorporates the two switches.

Reset Switch
Rotating the lock momentarily in counter-clockwise direction activates the Reset
Switch. This allows the operator to cancel credits in the event that they are not paid out by Ticket
Printer or Hopper.
Note: The Reset Switch is also used to reset minor faults with the machine.
To cancel all credits:

1. Press COLLECT to enter Cancel Credit Mode.

2. The Message Panel will appear, locking up the EGM with a Cancel Credit Message.
3. Use the Reset Switch (rotate lock counter-clockwise) to cancel the credits.

Audit Mode Switch

The lock also enables the operator to enter the Audit Mode, which provides all necessary
information for tracking financial and statistical information.

1. Make sure the machine is in an “idle” state (i.e. no game in play).

2. Rotate the Reset / Audit Mode Switch clockwise to enter the Audit Mode.

Note: The Audit Mode can be entered with credits in the machine and during any Error Lockup
Condition.

Hopper Refill
Note: The Main Door needs to be open to perform a Hopper Refill in Hopper Refill Mode. In the
event that the Main Door is closed the hopper refill icon will be greyed out and not selectable.
Use the following procedure to log refills as required.
The Hopper Refill Mode displays three parameters:
• Current Hopper Level — displays the current level of coin in the Hopper.
• Default Refill Amount — the default value set in the initial software.
• Current Refill Amount — the level the refill level amount is currently set at. Unless this is
changed it will be the same as the default figure.
If you want to set another amount for the current refill than the default value:

1. Select the icon showing the current refill amount. (Shown on the next page as $200)
2. A numbered key pad will display and the new refill amount can be entered.
3. Select Save and then Exit to save the value and return to the Hopper Refill Mode Page.

To refill the Hopper with the Current Hopper Refill Amount,

• Press the HOPPER REFILL icon to perform a refill.

• Select Yes or No to perform the refill.

If the refill is performed you will note that the Hopper Level and Hopper Refill will increase by the
Current Hopper Refill Amount. The Refill Count will increment by 1.
Note: If you changed the Current Hopper Refill Amount it will be set back to the Default Hopper
Refill Amount after the refill.
The main door must be closed and re-opened in order to perform another Hopper Refill.

Stacker Clear
The Stacker Clearance mode allows the operator to perform a stacker clear whilst also having an
exact record of the notes in the stacker at the time the stacker clearance is performed. The
information shown on the screen at this time is as follows:
• Notes in Stacker
- Denomination
- Count
- Total Value per each denomination
- Total (Of all combined denominations).

To perform a stacker clearance the operator will be asked to “remove the stacker” and then
afterwards to “re-insert the stacker” to complete.
The operator will then be asked if they wish to register the stacker clearance with YES or NO icons.
If the operator registers the stacker clearance the meters for the Notes in Stacker will be returned
to zero both in this menu and in the Meters menu.

Power Save
Power Save mode enables you to shut down the lighting (i.e. Monitor, Button Panels etc.) when it is
not in use, reducing the heat load on the EGM. In some jurisdictions, Power Save Mode is activated
by the system, in this jurisdiction it is required to be set manually.
Three things must all be fulfilled to enter Power Save Mode:
• No credit in the gaming machine.
• No game in progress.
• No error message on the gaming machine.

To enter Power Save Mode:

1. Select the ENTER POWER SAVE icon in the Maintenance Menu.
2. Select the YES or NO icon to enter Power Save Mode.

Note: When a machine is in Power Save Mode, the RULES button will flash intermittently. This
acts as an indicator that the machine is in power save mode and that the machine has not been
powered off.
To exit Power Save Mode:
1. Turn the Reset Switch.
2. The machine will perform some basic status checks then resume Play Mode.

Banknotes History
The Banknotes History Page comprises two parts:

• Banknote History &

• Notes Insertion Summary

Notes Insertion Summary

This part gives an overview of all banknotes inserted. For each denomination there are three
columns: Total,
Total Periodic,
Periodic and In Stacker.
Stacker Total is the total number of notes validated at each
denomination inserted; below the total amount is displayed in dollars. This amount increments
with every deposit until the NVRAM is cleared. Periodic is a running count of bills and values. You
