TYPES OF COMPRESSOR
INTRODUCTION
(RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS)
Reciprocating Air Compressor is a positive displacement air compressor in which air is sucked in a
chamber and compressed with the help of a reciprocating piston. It is called as positive
displacement compressor because air is first sucked in a chamber and then compression is achieved
by decreasing area of the chamber. The area is decreased by a piston which does reciprocating
motion.
Types of reciprocating
Single-acting reciprocating
A reciprocating pump design that produces a pressure differential
across the pumpin only one direction of drive rod
motion. Single action pumps only use a single pump chamber
per drive rod. They are only capable of producing pressure while
the plunger or piston is moving into the pump chamber
Double acting reciprocating compressors
• A double acting pump is one which has two suction
valves, delivery valves and two suction and delivery pipes.
In double acting reciprocating pump suction and delivery
strokes occur together. ... Due to the reciprocating action of
piston or plunger the water is fed to discharge side and it is
emptied to the delivery pipe
rotary compressor
Rotating compressors are the an additional kind of famous compressors. It utilizes two
Asymmetrical rotors that are likewise called helical screws to compress the air.The rotors
have an extremely unique shape and also they turn in opposite directions with little
clearance between them. The rotors are covered by cooling jackets. Two shafts on the blades
are placed that move their activity with the aid of timing gears that are attached at the
starting factor of the shafts/compressor
TYPES OF COMPRESSOR
TYPES OF ROTARY
Roots Blowers
The Roots type blower is a positive displacement lobe pump which operates
by pumping a fluid with a pair of meshing lobes not unlike a set of stretched
gears. Fluid is trapped in pockets surrounding the lobes and carried from the
intake side to the exhaust
VANE TYPE • This is an another type of rotary compressor. There is a fixed
casing in Vane type compressor in which a rotary rotor disc is placed which
has slots that are used for holding the sliding plates. WORKING Whenever
rotor rotates the disc also rotates thus allowing the sliding plates to slide as
the inner surface of casing is eccentric.Whenever the plates moves away
from the center a huge amount of air get trapped inside it and with the
rotation the sliding plates converge due to its shape and the trapped air get
compressed. This results in compression of air.
