AIMS
By the end of the lesson the S will be able to:

- to use the positive, comparative and superlative degrees of regular adjectives;

- to recognise the forms of the positive, comparative and superlative degrees of regular
adjectives;

- to be able to translate the forms of the positive, comparative and superlative degrees of
regular adjectives;

- to use these forms in conversation;


- to be able to make simple comparisons
- make sentences and compare themselves,
- work in groups using comparative and superlative and the new words,
- solve exercises.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES
- dialogue, explanation, conversation, brainstorming, elicitation
SKILLS: reading, writing, speaking, listening
INTERACTION: T – S; S-T; S – S, group work
MATERIALS: board, flashcards, pens, markers, flip chart, computer
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
- some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the tasks and they may
also need some of these indications to be given in Romanian;
-some students might feel nervous and reluctant to participate in the activity, so they may need
more encouragement.

Warm Up
Aim:
-to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Procedure: -T greets the Ss and ask about their mood. T checks homework, some Ss read
their homework.
Timing: 10 min

Activity 1: Lead-in
Aim:
-to activate students’ interest on the lesson
- to check the previously taught material
Procedure
Ss receive different sheets of paper and have to put them in the correct order to obtain a correct
sentence. Each group make a sentence, T writes it down on the board.
T announces the title and the objectives of the lesson.
Timing: 5 min.

Activity 2: Presentation & Practice


Aim:
-to engage students in expressing comparison
-to focus students attention on the lesson
Procedure
Ss are given three adjectives: tall, short, smart . T asks them to choose one person from each
group and make sentences using the above adjectives at positive, comparative and superlative
( two or three sentences ). Ss write down the sentences and a conclusion is drawn.
Timing:10 min
Interaction: individual work, group work, T- Ss

Activity 3: Practice
Aim:
-to develop S’ reading skills & to monitor understanding of the text/ sentences
- to consolidate information
-to learn new words
Procedure:
Ss are asked to listen to a song and to pay attention to the animals and adjectives in the song
T announces the new words and write them on the board, making sentences according to the
song.
Timing:10 min
Interaction: T-S, group work
Activity 4: Practice
Aim:
- to extract information from a text
- to complete a text using the right forms of adjectives
- to consolidate information
Procedure:
Ss solve exercise 3 page 13, then teacher helps them to check it.
Timing: 8 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T, individual work

Activity 5: Homework
Aim: to provide further practice;
Procedure:
The teacher assigns the homework and explains the task;
The students take notes;

Ss have to do exercise 4 page 13 as compulsory homework, using as an exemple the previous


exercise. They also receive a worksheet as an optional homework.
Timing: 2 min
