JAIRA’s 18th BIRTHDAY
INTRO:
Good afternoon ladies and gentleman, friends
and loved ones, welcome to Jaira Joy’s 18th
birthday celebration. My name is Gemma, and
I have been asked by Jaira’s gorgeous mom,
my colleague, to be your Emcee this evening,
and this is Mickey who will pitch in for me a
little later. They would like to extend their
thanks for attending this celebrations tonight.
We thank you all for gracing this joyful
occasion especially to those who have traveled
many miles just to be with us. In behalf of
Jaira and her family, I would like to express
their heartfelt gratitude for your presence at
this memorable occasion. It is indeed a
pleasure to have you all tonight.
Dinner will commence very soon, so we ask
that everyone make their way to their seats
and make your selves comfortable as we begin
our celebration with the opening prayer.
OPENING PRAYER :
And so to formally start our program, may I
invite everybody to please rise for our opening
prayer to be led by Pastor Don Solano.
Thank you Pastor Don.
ENTRANCE OF THE FAMILY
Please be on your feet as we welcome with a warm
round of applause the Paghubasan Family starting
off with of course the one-and-only younger sister of
Jaira, Dindi Glenn Paghubasan, and the proud
parents Mr. Dindo Paghubasan and Mrs. Glenn Rose
Paghubasan.
ENTRANCE OF THE DEBUTANT
This time ladies and gentlemen, put your hands
together as we welcome tonight’s prettiest lady in
the house, the lovely debutant, Ms. Jaira Joy M.
Paghubasan.
RUBBER SHOES-STILETTO CEREMONY
The Filipino tradition of celebrating the coming-of-
age of a young lady -- her debut -- comes but once.
Like the sweet sixteen or quinceanera, it's a
momentous occasion for young Filipinas, second
perhaps to a wedding in terms of importance and
stress load. Filipina women regard their debut as one
of the most important milestones of their lives.
Celebrating the coming-of-age at the age of 18,
believed to be the age of maturity, is a rite of
passage or a girl’s transition from youth to
adulthood.
And so to symbolize that transition, we would like to
call in the parents of Jaira, Mr. Dindo S. Paghubasan
and Mrs. Glenn Rose M. Paghubasan, to change the
rubber shoes Jaira is wearing right now to a stiletto.
Rubber shoes symbolizes the childhood years of
play and carefree life while stiletto symbolizes a
more mature disposition, of being more careful,
cautious and responsible in all her actions.
AVP
Okay. Now that we are all settled in, I guess it will
be nice to know a little story about Jaira’s growing
up years.
But before that, let us watch first an AVP prepared
to us by ___________________________________
JAIRA’S STORY
There you go, I bet you will all agree especially
those who knows Jaira well, that this lady is indeed
beautiful inside and out. Lumaking maganda at
mabait na bata. The almost perfect daughter a
mother could really ask for. She grew up sickly
though, despite the complete vaccine she had.
Sakitin… and maybe because of that her mommy
Glenn became over… over protective of her aside
from being the eldest daughter, and from what I
knew, she is also the eldest among the cousins, di
ba?
But you know, Jaira, being the kind and the sweet
daughter who would really take effort to text her
mommy, “ I love you mommy”…Jaira, on the
contrary, is not open naman to talk about her crush
or about lovelife to her mommy. You know when
Mommy Glenn and I was talking about this… naku
mommy na strikto sya kase and Mommy Glenn is
not open to talking about this. I asked her if they talk
about girly things about boys, as in todo ang iling
nya, like this… from extreme left to right…
hahaha… ayaw daw nyang magka-boyfriend si Jaira,
magpapakamatay daw sya, hahah.. grabe sa OA…
there was a time when Jaira was still in high school,
Daddy Dindo and Mommy Glenn gave her a cell
phone as a gift, remember that Jaira dear? A Nokia
C3 model… eh pakialamera si mommy, binuksan
ang cell phone, may nakitang text, ang nakasulat, “
alam mo Jaira, crush kita”… alam nyo ginawa,
There was this one, single unforgettable instance
also when Mommy Glenn was cleaning Jaira’s
cabinet and she found pictures of boys hidden along
with her clothes. Alam nyo ‘yon? She panicked, and
got mad she even hit Jaira on her face. But after the
shock subsided, Mommy Glenn cried and said sorry,
Jaira said sorry too, at pareho na silang nag-iyakan
mag-ina. Alam nyo yun, the self-confessed OA
mommy, praning and paranoid one. And so I guess
you can conclude guys why Jaira is studying in
Mirriam College.
ganyan ka, aawayin kita hahah… but you know,
sometimes when parents are idealistic…
perfectionist, the eldest gets all the pressure and the
high expectations from their parents. Ganun daw
talaga ang buhay ng panganay. And when I asked
Mommy Glenn, was there ever a time Jaira talked
back, or made-a-face or even a gesture of getting
pissed off also, or ‘was there ever in Jaira’s growing
up years that she has that one-matigas-na-ulo-
moment. Mommy Glenn said, wala.
Mahilig mag-mall at mag-shopping as their bonding
lipstick at make-up. Kapag nasa PHS si Jaira
palaging sinasabing maganda sya at kamukha sya ng
mommy nya, at proud sya dun.
Jaira, aside from being beautiful and kind, she can
also sing, and she’s a member of their church choir.
She’s an active member of the church.
Mahilig sa bata si Jaira, in fact, this is why Jaira and
I got the chance to get close because she loves and
adores my youngest kid, Arquinne. She teaches
Bible Study for Kids in their church every Sunday
and even on Thursday when she has free time. She
even goes to San Miguel Realty in Barangay Fortune
to teach bible study for kids.
Jaira is also a very diligent, very studious student. In
fact she got exempted twice in her final exams,
major subjects, when she was in her 1st year, that
was last year of 1st and 2nd sem. She was awarded a
certificate in outstanding behavior and a plaque of
exemplary performance.
college, sa sobrang stress, Jaira was hospitalized just
last August… after the confinement and after the
series of laboratory tests which turned out all good.
Her mom and her dad finally decided to really give
Jaira this kind of birthday celebration, as a gift to a
very kind, very good daughter, and a celebration of
thanksgiving as well to the Lord for the good grades
and the good health God is continuously showering
on her.
And so with that, may I ask request everybody to
hold their glasses up high, and let’s give this
gorgeous lady debutant our toast… CHEERS TO
THE GOOD GIRL! … and for thanking and
praising God for everything tonight, let us give the
Lord a warm round of applause…..
SPECIAL NUMBER
This time ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to
introduce to you the man who gave Jaira this
beautiful life. They say that a father is his son’s first
hero, and his daughter’s first love. The reason why
daughters love their dad the most is that there is at
least one man in this world who will never hurt her.
To give his beautiful daughter a special song
number, ladies and gentlemen, put your hands
together for Mr. Dindo Paghubasan.
