Mekaniko On The Go: An Online Mechanic Mobile Application: A System Analysis and Design Project

This document discusses the development of an online mobile application called "Mekaniko on the Go" that allows vehicle owners to request roadside assistance from mechanics. The application would use GPS to locate customers and connect them to nearby mechanics who can provide services like fixing flat tires, charging batteries, or providing gas. The goals are to make it convenient for drivers to get help on the road without having to tow their vehicle or find an open mechanic shop. The document outlines the objectives, scope, and limitations of the proposed application and system.

Chapter 1
The Problem and its Background

Introduction

Vehicle owners often experience difficulties when getting stuck on the road. This

things caused by flat tires, empty gas, discharged the battery, engine failure, and etcetera,

some of this problem can be fixed easily in no time but for the problems that are beyond

our skills, that is the time we need an expert mechanic. Sometimes getting your vehicle to

the mechanic cost you a lot, not including the mechanic service, you often need someone

to tow your car. To be hassle-free, the researchers come up with a project wherein when

got a problem on your vehicle you don’t need to be the one who will go to the mechanic,

the mechanic will be the one who will go to you, to fix your vehicle. This project

provides all your needs, you just have to call or make a form and we’ll provide.

Using a mobile phone they can contact the company’s hotline, through the use of

GPS they can locate the caller address him/her and connect them to the nearest personnel

that is riding around the given city location, once they had the callers location and what

service he/she was asking for , they will buy them items even if its gas or a battery. The

cost will depend on the service but the price of the given item will remain the same.
Statement of the Problem

1. Types of vehicles that the system can provide the service

2. Availability of the service mechanic, service company, and system application.
3. Process of transaction including the order cancelation and order confirmation.
4. System diagnostics and maintenance.

Objectives of the Study

The researchers decided to develop an application entitled “ Mekaniko on the Go:

an online mechanic mobile application” to make a convenient way to solve every

motorist problem on the road. This application can be access by IOS and Android phones.

Everyone can connect with this app through internet access or message and phone call.

This study aims to lend a service wherein the mechanic is the one who will go to the

customer place, either it is on the road or in his/her house. They also can choose what

service they need so that the company will send the specific mechanic for that specific

service.

Significance Of The Study

Customers will feel more congenial because they know that there is an online

mechanic that will be able to sustenance their vehicle. On the payment, it will depend on

the company’s rate.

Company service will have a trusted customer, speed up the regulation of

the transaction between the customer and the mechanic.

Researchers will gain more comprehension. As an Information

System student more technical terms can be learned, better machine

language understanding and better insight for the corporate world.

General Objectives

The researchers thought that if this study would be successful, it will give a big

help to every motorist on the road. Especially to those people who don’t have the

knowledge to fix a vehicle problem. Most of the people nowadays have a smartphone, it

is less hassle for them to find a mechanic who can offer them a service that always on the

go. Also, if this study will be enacted in the future, all mechanic company will gain

benefits because the researchers aim to extend their mechanic service to every motorist

out their that facing a mechanical problem.

Specific Objectives
1. Vehicles like a motorcycle, sedan, SUV, van, or any vehicle that

has 2 – 4 wheels can avail this type of service.

2. The system application is open for 24/7 service, but it still

depends if the company provides midnight service including the

personnel who will do the mechanic service.

3. Every transaction that has been made provides the customer’s

information about his/her vehicle including the plate number,

brand, and the type of the vehicle. If the customer books service

and he/she want to cancel but he/she exceeded on the allotted

time, the canceling process will be invalid.

4. Every two to three months the system application has its

diagnostics or system maintenance to avoid system failure. The

system application will notify the user two days before the

update prior to the diagnostics or system maintenance.

Scope and Limitations

This study focuses on giving service to vehicle owners and drivers. The system

will let the user choose what service he/she wants according to the vehicle’s mechanical

problem. Any service that is not included in the given categories is not covered under this

study. Cars which do not fall under the types of the vehicle are not within the scope of the

research.
