Cesar Caballero is a Spanish artist born in the 1960s in Madrid. He studied art in prestigious schools in Madrid and also studied drawing, engraving, design, and photography. During the 1980s he frequented art exhibitions and events in Madrid. He strived to learn different techniques from other artists, exploring media like industrial resins and giant photography transfers. Later while living in Barcelona, he created murals and architectural advertisements. In the 1990s he began exhibiting his paintings while also working in theater set design and projects in cinema, TV, and advertising. He has continued working prolifically in various artistic mediums like restoration, comics, photography, music videos, teaching, and interior design.

Cesar Caballero
Born in Madrid at the end of the 60’s, he studied applied Arts in the prestigious
ART SCHOOL”La Palma “
Sharing the frantic life of Madrid’s youth during “La movida” in the 80s, he
attended conferences, exhibitions, schools, universities, workshops as often as
possible when not working to earn a living.
During this period, he studied artistic DRAWING in The Fine Arts School of SAN
FERNANDO, ENGRAVING in the Circulo de Bellas Artes with the Master Manuel
Cuevas, artistic and Graphic DESIGN in T.A.I.with Coldo Martin and
PHOTOGRAPHY in the Institute Luis Buñuel in Madrid, Spain. Moreover, he
worked in several projects of Photography and PHOTO PRESS for several
magazines in those years.

Always demonstrating a restless and experimental character, from an early age


he strived to get in contact with other artists. This strive to learn led him to
Ibiza where he met well established painters with whom he explored different
techniques and styles, some a little unorthodox, such as the overloading of
industrial resins, the mixture with acids, giant photography transfers and
monotypes over walls.
Later on, whilst living in BARCELONA, he dedicated his time to the creation of
MURALS and architectural ADVERTISING.

His first paintings were exhibited in the 90s in Madrid, Barcelona ,etc whilst he
was still working in stage design and creation for various theatres and OPERA (
Teatro Español de la Comedia, Teatro Real, etc..) working together with
prestigious Masters such as Maestro Pizi, Ricardo Trotti, Carlos Saura, Antonio
Plaza, Gerardo Vera or Mario Gas) in CINEMA, TV PRODUCTIONS and
ADVERTISING.
Simultaneously, he collaborated in SCULPTURE PROJECTS with Nacho Criado ,
Juan Muñoz, Antonio De La Peña or Adolfo Montes further expanding his
understanding of techniques and dimensions.

He continued to pursue his feverish artistic activities in various areas of art


including: RESTORATION (Valencia Catedral, Burgos Catedral , Haro Colegiata,
Salamanca. etc), COMICS, (Comix International in Barcelona.) PHOTOGRAPHY,
MUSIC VIDEO, ADVERTISING (Young and Rubicon), teaching ENGRAVINGS (
Obra grafica original) INTERIOR DESIGN (Acero arquitectos, Warner Bros park
MADRID , Disneyland PARIS, PortAventura ,etc..).
He was then introduced to the Parisian artistic world by his French family and
collectors . His prolific activity has allowed him to sell in France as well as in
Spain.

In 2006 he moved to Philippines In Manila, created several projects in


collaboration (co curator ) with the Embassy of Spain, the Ayala Museum (
PRADO PROJECT, El GUERNICA( deconstruction ) and multimedia projects
(CONECTADOS) with U.P.I. and AECID ( big molds in resins with sculptors from
Madrid ), group exhibitions with Filipino, Mexican and Spanish painters and
photographers. As one of the founders of the first Filipino-Spanish cultural
magazine “Perro Berde“, he collaborated with the illustrations of the first
publishings.

Cesar Caballero’s work is characterised by its vivacity, encompassed in the


movement of the lines, the selection of colours and the striking energy
emanating from his subjects. As an artist, he continues to explore materials as a
means to reach the epitome of dynamism.
