I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding of why there is a need for information, and identify
how to locate, access, assess, organize and communicate that information.

B. Standard
The learners shall be able to create a log containing the stages/elements of
information literacy.

C. Learning Competencies

(MIL11/12IL-IIIc-8)

D. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
 Define the elements of information;
 Recognize pertinent guide questions leading to information literacy;
 Create a log of the stages and element information literacy in a given scenario.

IV. PROCEDURE

A. Lesson Proper
i. Defining Information
 Most Influential Person
1. Show “MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON” the the projector screen.
2. Instruct the learners to answer the phrase on a piece of paper by
providing the following details: Who, What, When, Where, How.
3. Call some learners to present their answers to the class.

 Ask the learners the following


1. What is the purpose of these questions?
2. What is the importance of answering these questions?

 Provide the learners the definition of information


1. Data that has been collected, processed, and interpreted in order to
be presented in a useable form.
2. A broad term that can cover processed data, knowledge derived
from study, experience, instruction, signals or symbols. In the
media world, information is often used to describe
knowledge of specific events or situations that has been gathered
or received by communication,
intelligence, or news reports.

ii. Discussion/Explanation (30 min.)


 Group Discussion: Lead a discussion using the following guide
questions and prompts
1. Why do you need information?
2. Where do you search for information?
3. How do you acquire and store information?
4. How will you determine the quality and accuracy of the information
that you have?
5. How do you use the information that you have?
6. How will you communicate information?

 Inform the learners that the questions that they have just answered are the
Stages/Elements of Information Literacy.
 Show the meaning of Information Literacy to the learners and explain.
 Discuss the Stages / Elements of Information Literacy and explain.

iii. Practicing new skills


 Activity (20 min.):
1. Explain a scenario to the learners, and have them answer
the matrix distributed to them.
V. ASSESSMENT
i. Developing Mastery
 Instruct the learners to write an essay about information literate
individual.(at most 100 words)
ii. Finding practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living
 Is there any way that this lesson can help you in your daily life?
iii. Generalization
 Let the learners formulate generalizations.
