The magazine focuses on core topics such as science and innovation, adventure and exploration, critical
issues, culture, and the natural world. From geography, astronomy, biology, and all the other sciences, various
facts fill this yellow covered manuscript.
To weigh the pros and cons of the National Geographic Magazine, the positive aspects are stated first.
28 The most significant one is that it is consistent in releasing their monthly issues since its first publication in
1888. With each issue, National Geographic goes further by telling stories of humankind from an up-close
perspective to deepen people’s understanding of the world and their role in it. The National Geographic
Magazine plays the role of trusted, unbiased long-form journalism. Providing a spotlight for the important
stories that define our time and matter most to a new generation. Images in the magazine have high quality,
which means that it was taken by photographers with great patience and dedication. Also, these photos can

attract the readers’ attention towards its corresponding article. These articles have various topics which are
suited to the different interests of diverse individuals, like the National Geographic Kids’ Magazine. It also has
issues having languages aside from English, like the Japanese issues that are written in Nihongo. Finally, its
latest and most modern addition, at now offers digital issues that can be downloaded through their website at

also digitally.
One of the negative aspects of the National Geographic Magazine found by the reviewers is that they

release the titles of their articles and its contents at an earlier date. This means that they cannot alter their

publications because of the early release of its title and contents. Another negative aspect, and probably the
one most observed by people is that some of the magazine’s issues implicitly display racism and stereotyping.
Examples of these are the December 2018 special issue entitled Black and White, portraying twin sisters with
different skin colors. And in terms of customer services, there are a number of clients not receiving monthly
issues on time, as researched by the reviewers.
