Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is always installed in Media Center Edition and it’s hidden. It’s also
always installed when you use the EXE live installer to apply SP4 to a running system.

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and DirectX for Managed Code are installed along with
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 will
appear on the Add/Remove Programs window but you can’t remove them from there. You must use
the Add/Remove Components Wizard to remove .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (and other versions) from
your system. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 requires XPS Services to be installed.
Note: If you choose to uninstall Windows XP after an upgrade from Windows 98, 98 SE or ME you will
be warned about .NET Frameworks installed on your computer. Ignore this message and proceed with
uninstallation, Setup will restore your previous system configuration (including any .NET Framework
versions you had installed).
