“Insufficient Number of Supplies in Jag Energy System Solutions
Resulting to Delays in Production”

II. Case Background
JAG Energy System Solutions is founded in the year 2014 by Mr.
John P. Gallardo and his brother Anthony P. Gallardo. It is their main office
is located in Leano st. Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal. Anthony
is an IT expert and John is a civil engineer. They’ve been running a pro
audio business named Biobass for 19 years with multiple side jobs of IT
services under the name Questware and infrastructures. It is in the year
2013 when they realized that their system will not work out if they will stay
random accepting unrelated side jobs, so they decided to come up with a
company having 3 areas; Pro Audio, IT services and Solar. (See
Appendix #1-2, page 17)
By this time John already met a lot of people, mostly businessmen,
contractors, laborers and clients that soon became his associates. He
befriended high-class businessmen in the Philippines and was inspired to
step up his business. He got introduced and was interested to the
alternative energy provider which is solar. It is now the main focus of the
company.

As a beginner in this field or line of business it is difficult at first for
the company because of not having a primary supplier to supply for their
panels, batteries and other materials which they need. Soon they got
associated with two known solar companies in the Philippines; Solar Home
Philippines and Canadian Solar. Having these two as suppliers is not that
enough for they are not into local panels because of issues regarding its
durability and appeal to the clients. Though, both can provide high-class
qualities specially Canadian Solar, but shipments can still be delayed from
time to time. Especially because of the batteries which are imported
overseas, resulting into delays of the whole production, from supplying
unto installing and because of this some clients are complaining from all
the delays. Also because of these delays they cannot accept more than
two projects at the same time, which is a negative factor for the company.
Having this kind of business is quite pricy than what John and Anthony
used to, but they are working harder each day to comply with the needs of
the company. (See Appendix #3-5, page 18-21)
As a company who’s specializing in 3 areas they must ensure its
credibility in all fields which they are involved. They want all of their
software and unit releases to go to production seamlessly, without defects
and delays, where everyone is aware and informed of the outcomes and

status of every work. The company also looks forward into a more
professional and smoother transaction with clients, suppliers and
employees. Today the company’s been encountering shipment delays and
too many release failures that may result in too many rollback failures. If
this kind of problems are ignored; resources will need to increase to
handle the cascading problems, and they may miss critical customer
deadlines which could result in lost revenue, penalties, lost business, and
further damage to the overall reputation of the company.

III. Objectives of the Study
The objective of this research is to understand, analyze and lessen
the problems and issues occurring in JAG Energy System Solutions in
regards to the production delays because of the insufficiency of suppliers,
by evaluating the suppliers and future suppliers more thorough than
before. The researchers and readers might as well learn how to handle
such difficulties for future reference and knowledge. To lessen further
delays on the production, shipments and avoid customer complaints, by
having additional and alternative suppliers that are evaluated thoroughly
by the company.

THREATS
Presence of Competitors
A lot of competitions are being practiced in the corporate world in any
field. The biggest threats in a company are the competitors both local and
international. One of the biggest competitors is Solartech Enterprise that is
in a much better location and is more matured than JAG Energy System
Solutions. (See Appendix #22, pages 42-43)
Natural Calamity
Cainta is one of the flooded area in Rizal, natural calamity especially
flood can affect the potential clients not to continue their purchase and
causes delays in productions.( See Appendix #23, pages 43-44)
Delays in the Implementation of Currently Approved Projects
The lack of visible progress in already agreed projects can damage
the company’s attractiveness to potential investors and clients. Delays in
the installation and whole production of the projects causes lots of conflicts
between the company, contractors and most specially clients. This may
cause to customer dissatisfaction and purchase cancellation, which will
affect the sales of the company, as well as the customers loyalty.

VII. Alternative Course of Action
ACA #1. Conduct Evaluation to the Suppliers
Advantages:
Conducting an evaluation to the suppliers and future suppliers will
help the company to further investigate on which the most is qualified and
worth the risk to achieve the company’s own standard. It will enable them
to ensure the credibility of the supplier and the durability of the supplies
beforehand. Evaluating suppliers have different methods of which have
different factors to consider that will further make the process more
reliable.
Disadvantages:
Conducting an evaluation to the suppliers and future suppliers will
cause much work and use much effort that might have been used in other
more important and productive agendas. Having different methods of
evaluating suppliers may result on having additional higher costs that
might affect the company’s expenses.
12
ABE International Business College
Cainta Campus
A member of the AMA Education System
ACA #2. Attend forums and conventions
Advantages:
By attending in forums and conventions held both locally and
internationally will help a company gain a name in the corporate world. It is
also a platform to introduce your company, meet possible investors,
creditors, partners, prospect clients and most especially credible suppliers
all in one place and event. A wealth of knowledge is usually presented by
many speakers which they can use to innovate strategies and techniques
for the company. Through these kinds of events they can gain some ideas
from other businessmen.
Disadvantages:
The representative will have to deal with different kinds of people, on a
foreign place. He/she must be extra careful for they will not know who the
right person to interact with is; they might be with the wrong circle of
personalities such as close competitors that might get an insight of the
company strategies. Time spent away from your actual Business. Time is
always a concern when scheduling activities and some entrepreneurs
simply can’t spare the time away from their business for such activities.
13
ABE International Business College
Cainta Campus
A member of the AMA Education System
ACA #3. Stocking supplies
Advantages:
Ordering units from the suppliers overseas and stocking will avoid
delays, for the supplies will be ready at the warehouse. Also ordering a lot
of stocks at one transaction will lessen the expenses in shipments and
discounts are possible. Having more supplies is also an advantage to
meet the demand of every customer and if a company has enough supply
it will meet the need and avoid shortage of supply.
Disadvantages:
Stocking might damage the supplies specially if it is not taken care of
the right way. Panels are the most important supply and yet the most
fragile, a lot of factors might damage it resulting of bigger loss for the
company. Having too much stock will cause extra expense as it can lead
to a shortfall in your cash flow. Also having too little stocks can cause to
lost income in form of lost sales.

VIII. Recommendation
The researcher recommends Alternative Courses of Action no. 1
Conduct evaluation to the suppliers and Alternative Courses of
Action no. 2 Attend forums and conventions that will help the
company gain wider connections, partners, associates and possible
suppliers in different locations promoting transparency and ensured
credibility that will surely help the firm with its difficulties of providing
supplies for their productions. It will also lessen the number production
delays and client complaints. Among the alternative courses of action,
ACA #1 and ACA #2 is the easiest way to implement rather than ACA #3
which is more risky both in the reputation of the company for possible
damages and in the loss of assets.

IX. Conclusion
Thus, having alternative suppliers that the company can trust and rely
on, other than the company’s main supplier will avoid production delays,
and the unit releases will go to production seamlessly, without defects and
delays in return the company will have a smoother transaction with the
clients without complaints of any delays.
