Narrative Report on Talakasan 2019

Sports is one way not only to show the skills and talents of the students but also develop
the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among individuals. Another purpose of this activity
is to enable students to realize their strengths and weaknesses and be able to improve on each
area. Finally, the purpose of the said activity will help students derive from doing obnoxious
things that might hinder them in achieving a bright future. Every year, our school Emilio
Aguinaldo College-Cavite celebrates its annual Intramurals or Talakasan in which all the students
were grouped into six teams. Each team will have representatives in each sporting events. This
yearly activity is exciting for the students because they will have break on studying and focus on
sports even just for almost a whole week. Different team from different department has made
their names this week. From the theme "establishing national identity and historical
consciousness for every Emilian" each team named their group based on our own national
identity for Biomedical cluster which consist of Radiologic Technology , Medical technology,
Nursing, Physical therapy, Dentistry they use the name "Mascarra BioMedikal" ; for the School
of Business Administration and Accountancy which is an independent team they use " Los
Higantes" ; for the School of Tourism , International Hospitality Management their team name
is " Viva Turismo" ; for the School of Education, Art and Sciences the team name is " Pintados el
Humanista" ; for the School of Criminolgy they use the team name "Sandugo Kriminolohiya" ; for
the School of Engineering Computer Science and Technology their team name is " Afi Secat"
When the day of the Talakasan came, the students and faculty of the school gather at the “snake
road” in Dasmariñas. Next is the parade where each team showed their uniform and how
disciplined they are. I’m from SBAA Department and our team color is yellow. After the parade,
the students were given some minutes to freshen up for the main event in the EAC Gymnasium.
The teams have been called in the gymnasium. Each of the teams were in their respective places.
Few minutes, the time came for the highlight of that days event is the search for Mr. and Ms.
Talakasan. The candidates represent their respective departments for the School of Nursing is
Ms. Ann Verano and Mr. Troy Gabrieles, for Tourism and International Hospitality Management
is Ms. Sofya Vega and Mr. Jayvee Sobrevega, for Radiologic Technology is Ms. Ella Bocala and Mr.
Jhonnel Del Rosario, for Physical Therapy is Ms. Syra Penoliar and Mr. Yuki Lagana, for Pharmacy
Claudette Tugma and Mr. Alex Matthew Alde, for Midwifery is Ms. Vermaliza Delacruz, for
Medical Technology is Ms. Queensalam Abdullah and Mr. Jurico Marges, for Engineering
Computer Science and Technology is Ms. Nina Sulingan and Mr. Quelvin Trinidad, for Education
is Ms. Jennifer Dangase, and for Dental Medicine is Brandon Acelajado, for School of Criminilogy
is Ms. Nicole Gorobat and Mr. Hustino Moreno, for Business Administration and Accountancy is
Ms. Chloe Romano and Mr. Kenneth Paul Adiao. The respective officers showcased their ramping
skills in the stage with their sportswear, then proceed to the question and answer portion of the
pageant. Each candidate did their best to show in all Emilians that they are deserving on the titles,
it’s not all about the beauty but also with their intelligence in answering the questions ask by the
judges. The gymnasium is so noisy with so much excitement for whom will be the next Mr. and
Ms. Talakasan 2019 as the students supporting their respective departments as its one of the
criteria for judging is the audience impact. As the result of the said event the School of Business
Administration and Accountancy Ms. Chloe Romano crowned as Ms. Talakasan and Mr, Quelvin
Trinidad of Engineering Computer Science and Technology as for Mr. Talakasan. For the the First
Runner Up is Mr. Hustino Moreno and Ms. Nicole Gorobat of the School of Criminology and for
the Second Runner Up is Mr. Troy Gabrieles of the School of Nursing and Ms. Shivani Senger of
the Education, Arts and Sciences.

On the first day of the main event, the opening ceremony held at the EAC gymnasium as
the students, faculty, board of directors, non-teaching staff, alumni, and visitors are gather to
witness the opening ceremony for the Foundation week. Along with the programs it includes the
Dance competition, Singing Competition, and Impromptu Speech by each department. After the
performance of those competition the awarding is held after. There is also a booth made by the
students in each departments, the booth includes selling of foods by the STIHM students, henna
services made by the students of EAS especially the foreign students where they are good with,
some students made a booth that represents the departments they belong to. Another activity
is the free exam for the upcoming students of EAC with a free tour in the campus. Along with the
husay competition mentioned above. Earthball game and Archery tag happened in the football
field. On the first game of the earthball my team the Business administration matched up with
the the STIHM and the winner is the STIHM. On the after BA matched up with the Criminology
and the BA won the game. As I play the earthball I was so happy because it was fun at the same
time challenging because you need to balance the ball so that it will not fall on the ground, also
the wind is also a problem because it makes the ball hard to catch and it falls to the ground easily.
During the play proper cooperation with your team mates is some factor you should consider,
sportsmanship behavior is also applied, having fun is important thing for you to be in able to
enjoy the game whether you lose or not. At the afternoon the most watched game is the
basketball game held with the semifinal of the Business Administration and the Criminology, each
player did their best to win the game to make it to the final game. But unfortunately during the
game one of the player of the Criminology team got injured due to the dislocation of its ankle,
the officer in charge together with the faculty members gave immediate action to the incidents.
As the game continued the Criminology team won the game and they got the spot to play in the
finals. It is how the first day end. It was so tiring but at the same time it was fun.

On the second day there still lots of activities are held. It includes the booth made by the
students in lined with their courses. In each booth it has a purpose for them to able to promote
their courses to the upcoming Emilians, to give overview about the courses for example for the
medical students they made a free consultation, free medical services like laboratory test and
etc., for the business related courses they have booth that includes a business matter, for the
HRM they are responsible for the campus tour of the upcoming Emilians. For the criminology
students together with the communication students they have a booth called sneaker king that
give free cleaning by just following their social media page. Truly an emilian students showcased
their best in making unique booths that enable students, faculty and visitors enjoy the
Foundation week. There is also a bazaar in the lobby 1 that makes the Foundation week more
interactive they sell foods, clothing, and etc. Games and activities are held anywhere in the
campus. Swimming competition is held in the antlers pool and the Badminton competition is held
in the ICA Complex. Basketball games, and volleyball games are held in the gymnasium, earthball
and archery tag is held in the football field, and the e-sports is in the computer laboratory.

Third day is the most tiring day of all the players especially for the team that made into
the finals. In the morning there is a zumba dance at the football field with the zumba instructor
as an alumnus in EAC-M which included in the activity are the senior high school students. For
the basketball, volleyball, earthball, and archery tag. The amazing race is held on that day that
challenge the playing students in the various station made by the faculty members. The winning
team in this competition is anounced on the awarding ceremony during the last day. On the
afternoon, after the ballgames in the gymnasium the cheeryell competition is held that includes
in the competition are the SBAA, STIHM, EAS, and BIOMED, together with the muse and escort
competition. The winner for the cheeryell competition is the biomed as the first, and with the
muse and escort as the winner also, second is the arts and sciences, and the third is the sbaa.
During night time there is a Battle of the Band Competition that showcase the students’ talents
in playing instruments, and good singing vocals. Each courses have their unique ways in
presenting their performance as they performed well.

On the last day of the Talakasan, event on the morning is the job interviews, and some
government’s services that made free to all. As the highlight of the event is during at night it’s
like the victory party to all the students. It is also the most awaited day for everyone as it is the
time for all the players and students who made all their hard work in the talakasan as will be
announced the winner in the talakasan competition, which team will get the trophy of
championship. It is also the day where Emilians would witness the live performance of the
Mayonnaise band as the special guest. After the performance of the guest, faculties do their best
as they performed their frolics that add fun to the Emilians. Then the next is the most awaited
awarding of the students who made an effort and made their best to win their team. Each team
wins in different category and they are able to show what they really got. But only three wins in
overall ranking. 3rd place is Criminology, 2nd Place is School of Engineering Computer science
and Technology and Champion of this year Talakasan are the School of and Business
Administration and Accountancy.

The last day of Talakasan is really a bomb because the Central Student Council invites the
band who are famous for their song like Jopay, Tayo nalang dalawa and synesthesia. And yes
Mayonnaise is in the house. Every emilians sing loud and enjoy every song mayonnaise has to
offer. And one of the highlights of talakasan is the fireworks display who completed the night.
For me, as a Emilian Student I mus that this is the best intramurals I ever did in my life. It is so
memorable for me and I’m excited to continue represent our department in the future.
