Islamic Perspective on Solar System

The document provides information about the solar system through three main points: 1) It describes the 10 major components of the solar system - the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. 2) It discusses some key facts about each planet, such as their size, composition, and distance from the Sun. 3) It expresses gratitude to Allah for creating the solar system and enabling life on Earth.

Asssalamualaikum warohmatullohi wabarokatuh.

Good morning ustaz ustazah and my dear friends.

Today, we are going to present on our beautiful solar system. Our solar
neighborhood is an exciting place. The Solar System is full of planets, moons,
asteroids, comets, minor planets, and many other exciting objects. The Solar
System is made up of all the planets that orbit our Sun. Our solar system consists
of an average star we call the Sun, the
planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto

In addition to planets, the Solar System also consists of moons, comets, asteroids,
minor planets, and dust and gas. The planets, most of the satellites of the planets
and the asteroids revolve around the Sun in the same direction, in nearly circular
orbits.
Allah swt has said in Surah Yaseen verses 36- 38:

Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows,
and of their kind and of what they do not know.

And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! They
are in the dark;

And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the
Mighty, the Knowing.
Composition of our solar system:

1. The sun
Everything in the Solar System orbits or revolves around the Sun. The Sun
contains around 98% of all the material in the Solar System. The planets contain
only 0.135% of the mass of the solar system.

2. Mercury
It is the closest planet to the Sun, and second smallest planet in the solar system.
Its diameter is 40% smaller than Earth and 40% larger than the Moon.

3. Venus
It is also called as the jewel of the sky, was once known by ancient astronomers as
the morning star and evening star. Astronomers also refer to Venus as Earth's
sister planet. Because, both are similar in size, mass, density and volume.

4. Earth
Earth is the 3rd planet from the Sun at a distance of about 150 million kilometers.
Earth is the only planet in the solar system known to harbor life. Earth's
atmosphere protects us from meteors, most of which burn up before they can
strike the surface.

5. Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and is commonly referred to as the Red
Planet. Because, the rocks, soil and sky have a red or pink hue. Mars was considered
the best candidate for harboring extraterrestrial life.

6. Jupiter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and is the largest planet in the solar
system. If Jupiter were hollow, more than one thousand Earths could fit inside.

7. Saturn
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and is the second largest in the solar
system. Saturn is the only planet less dense than water (about 30 percent less).

8. Uranus
Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun and is the third largest in the solar
system. Uranus has at least 22 moons.
9. Neptune
Neptune is the outermost planet of the gas giants. Neptune has a set of four rings
which are narrow and very faint.

10. Pluto
Pluto is usually farther from the Sun than any of the eight planets. Pluto was
officially labeled the ninth planet by the International Astronomical Union in 1930.

That’s all about our solar system. We have to thank Allah for creating this system
for us and enabling us to live on our beautiful planet, the earth.
Thank you for listening to us and we do apologise for any mistakes,

Wassalamualaikum waohmatullohi wabarokatuh.
