Symposium, Beautification, Tree Planting,
Clean-Up Drive and Feeding

It has been five School Years that Talamban National High School
conducted Tree Planting and other activities in Barangay Garing,
Consolacion, Cebu participated by Talamban National High School Teachers,
Garing Barangay Officials, BHW, Parents and other concerned community
people.

“ DEPED ORDER 57, S. 1996 – THE REVITALIZED TREE PLANTING AND GREENING
PROGRAM” emphasizes the importance of Tree Planting and Greening Program. The scenarios of
Land Slide in Naga City serves as an eye opener to us. In the advent of quarrying the mountains in
which the land owner benefits monetarily, but many people suffer by its consequences. It is high
time for us to stop this quarrying it may be legal or illegal. Some houses with families were
helplessly buried by the land slide.

We have to take care of our environment by planting trees and avoiding this quarrying in
which only the developer could benefit from it. DENR orders permit to those who cut trees. They
must replace it by planting some trees.

Last School Year 2017-2018, Talamban National High School- Night Department and few
teachers from the Day Department spearheaded the 3-in-1 Activity: Tree Planting, Clean-Up Drive
and Feeding initiated by Mr. Oliver G. Tubin and Mrs. Alma L. Quebido under the leadership of
our Assisting Principal Mrs. Marilou H. Collano and the Principal, Mr. Santiago B. Hubahib, Jr.

This School Year 2018-2019, Talamban National High School conducted the 5-in-1 Activity:
Symposium, Beautification, Tree Planting, Clean-Up drive and Feeding in Barangay Garing,
Consolacion, Cebu last September 09, 2018. It was participated by Talamban National High School
day teachers, Talamban National High School night teachers, Talamban National High School
Senior High teachers, Garing Barangay Officials, Purok Center community people, Garing BHW,
Parents and teachers of the neighboring school. These are the people behind this big event to wit;

The activity was started at 6;00 a.m. by taking the teachers with the two trucks sponsored
by Hon. Wesley M. Alimoren, Barangay Captain of Garing, Consolacion, Cebu at the gate of
Talamban National High. We arrived at Barangay Garing Covered Court at 7:00 a.m. sound and
safe. The teachers had their 15 minutes Zumba and the opening program started at 8:00 a.m. The
Barangay Captain, Hon. Wesley Alimoren delivered his opening remarks and followed by the
statement of the purpose by Hon. Clifford T. Hatamosa, Barangay Councilor.

After the rationale of the activity, we proceeded to the symposium. Mr. Ericson Maglasang
spoke about climate change followed by Mr. Oliver G. Tubin who spoke about the importance of
tree planting and lastly Mrs. Alma L. Quebido who spoke about Supplementary Feeding.

Right after the opening program, the teachers proceeded to Purok Center; Group A of the
day teachers were assigned to Purok Lubi, Senio High Teachers were assigned to Purok Saging,
Night teachers together with Bacayan Multi-purpose personnel were assigned in Purok Nangka and
Day teachers group B were assigned in Purok Pina.

In Purok Centers, we had our 4-in-1 Activity; Beautification, Tree Planting, Clean-Up
Drive and Feeding. The seedlings were donated by Consolacion Agriculture Department headed by
Mrs. Evangeline Puao, the Municipal Agriculturist. The teachers sponsored at least 50 kids for our
feeding program.

We wish to conduct 7-in-1 Activity; LAC, Agro-Fair, Symposium, Beautification, Tree


Planting, Clean-Up Drive and Feeding for the next School Year.
