As a candidate in the CFA Program, you have already agreed to adhere to certain rules and
standards as set forth in the Candidate Agreement for this exam administration. This page
highlights several of these obligations that are relevant to your exam day experience.
Do not:
Glance or look at another candidate’s exam or give the appearance of doing so.
Share exam content with anyone including other candidates.
Open, work on, or read the exam until instructed to do so.
Write or erase after time is called. At the end of the exam, when “stop writing now” is
announced, you must immediately put your writing instrument down.
Speak to anyone other than a proctor during the exam.
As a reminder, you are bound by the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of
Professional Conduct. Candidates must not engage in any conduct that compromises the
integrity, validity, or security of the CFA exams. Specifically, disclosure of exam content to
anyone, including other CFA candidates, is strictly prohibited. Read more (PDF).
Be sure you are prepared for exam day by reviewing the CFA Candidate Checklist and
bringing the following items to the test center:
Valid international travel passport
Exam admission ticket
Approved calculator(s), with working batteries
Approved writing instruments
TESTING POLICIES
It is your responsibility to read and understand all testing policies set forth by the CFA
Program. For complete policy information, visit our website. Failure to comply may result in
CFA Institute voiding your exam results and disciplinary action including suspension
and/or termination of your participation in the CFA Program.
Admission and Departure Policy
Print one copy of your admission ticket on clean, unused paper and bring it along with your
valid international travel passport to the test center on exam day. If you arrive more than 30
minutes past the exam start time, you will not be admitted. No one is permitted to leave the
exam sessions early. Read more.
Answer Sheet and Exam Book Policy
You must bring your own writing instruments on exam day. Complete your answer sheet/essay
book correctly to ensure all information is accurately recorded. For multiple choice and item-
set questions (June candidates only), a No. 2 or HB pencil is required. For the essay portion of
the exam (June candidates only), it is strongly recommended that you use a No. 2 or HB
pencil or a blue or black ink pen. You may do scratch work only in the exam book. Do not use
your desk, table covering, hand, paper, admission ticket, or any other surface as scratch

Calculator Policy
Only two calculator models are authorized for use during the CFA exams. Read more.
Texas Instruments BA II Plus (including BA II Plus Professional)
Hewlett Packard 12C (including the HP 12C Platinum, 12C 25th anniversary edition, 12C
30th anniversary edition, and the HP 12C Prestige).
Identification Policy
You must present your valid international travel passport to be admitted on exam day. If
you do not, or the information in our records does not match exactly the information on your
passport, you will not be permitted to take the exam and you will forfeit your fees. Read more.
A valid international travel passport:
Is issued by a national government which certifies, for the purpose of international travel,
the identity and nationality of its holder;
Passport cards, national identification cards, limited travel documents, internal
passports, and passports that are clipped, hole-punched, or marked cancelled, are
not valid forms of identification for the CFA Program. Learn more
Is an original document (photocopies are not allowed) and is current (not expired);
Contains your name, date of birth, passport number, expiration date, and the name of
the country that issued the passport;
Is machine readable (handwritten passports will not be accepted); and
Includes a recognizable photograph on the passport data page.
Personal Belongings Policy
You must not bring prohibited items into the testing room. You are strongly encouraged to
leave your personal belongings at home or in your car. Read more.
