Cp5292 Iot - Unit1 Part1

The document provides an introduction to Internet of Things (IoT), including its physical and logical design, enabling technologies, and deployment templates. It discusses domain specific IoTs for applications like smart homes, smart grids, and smart healthcare. The four pillars of IoT are identified as RFID, wireless sensor networks, machine-to-machine communication, and SCADA. Cyber-physical systems that tightly couple computational and physical elements are also introduced. Finally, the document outlines some IoT challenges and discusses systems management and platforms using technologies like NETCONF-YANG.

1. What is IoT?

 Internet of Things (IoT) is an ecosystem of connected physical objects that are accessible through
the internet.

Metcalfe’s law:

 Metcalfe's Law states that a network's impact is the square of the number of nodes in the network.
 Metcalfe's Law is a concept used in computer networks and telecommunications to represent the
value of a network.

4. What is Cyber-Physical System (CPS)?

 Cyber-Physical System (CPS) refers to a new generation of systems with integrated computational
and physical capabilities that can interact with humans through many new modalities.
 CPS is an embedded sensor network and control system featuring a tight combination of, and
coordination between, the system’s computational and physical elements.
 A robot is a kind of tightly coupled CPS.
