University Student Survey Dataset

This document summarizes a sample dataset from a survey of 435 university students in the United States conducted in Spring 2014. It describes the variables in the dataset, including students' demographic information like gender and major, academic information like test scores and expected graduation date, lifestyle factors like smoking status and sleep habits, and campus information like residence, commute, and study time. The document notes that while the data was designed to look realistic, it does not represent an actual study and should only be used for learning statistical software.

Last updated 2015-11-03

Data “Description”
Note: This data was simulated using random number generation. Certain effects were built into the simulated data in
order to create useful example cases. While care has been taken to make the data “look” real, it does NOT represent an
actual study, and should not be used for any purpose outside of learning to use statistical software.

This dataset contains survey results from 435 students enrolled at a university in the United States. The survey was
conducted during the Spring 2014 semester.
