ENGLISH STORYTELLING COMPETITION

SJK (C ), SELANGOR DARUL EHSAN 2017


Organised by Majlis Guru Besar SJK (C ), Selangor
Objectives (a) To instill the importance of English studies among Chinese
Primary Schools and to raise their standard of English
competency.
(b) To foster better understanding between the teachers and pupils.
Entry of qualification All existing Chinese Primary School pupils are eligible to participate.
Participants (a) District Preliminary Competition – maximum 2 pupils per school.
(b) State Level Competition – Champion and first runner-up from
each District Preliminary Competition.
Allocation of time Every participant is given 5 minutes. If time is exceeded, 1 mark will be
deducted for every 30 seconds. Timing starts when the speaker starts
his / her story.
Adjudication Pronunciation 30%
Intonation 30%
Expression 20%
Content 20%
Judges To be decided by respective committee
Prizes (a) District Preliminary Competition-
Individual : Champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up ,
5 outstanding performance prize, 11 consolation prize.
(b) State Level Competition- First to fifth prize and 5 distinctive
prizes

Rules and regulations (a) Contestants must wear school uniform. They are not allowed to
wear lounge suit, tie or bow.
(b) Contestants are not allowed to use props, pictures or
cardboards.
(c) Contestants who are late by 15 minutes or more will be
disqualified.

The organising committee reserves the right to add, delete or ameng the above
regulations where necessary. The decision of the organizing committee is final.
ENGLISH WRITTEN COMPETITION
SJK (C ), SELANGOR DARUL EHSAN 2017

Objectives (a) To raise the English Language Standard in Selangor Chinese


Primary School.
(b) To promote goodwill and good relationship among teachers
and pupils in the state.
Participation Each school is entitled to submit 4 participants for the competition.
Format of paper (a) The paper consists of 120 multiple choice questions
(b) All questions will be set by the appropriate panel appointed by
the organizing committee.
Prizes (a) District Level – First to Fifth prize
(b) State Level –
(i) Individual : 1st- 5th, 5 for Distinctive Performance, 12 for
Merit Prize ( Total of 22 Prizes)
(ii) Team : First to third prize
(iii) Certificates will be awarded ( from JPNS)
