Shakthi Mahimna Stotram

From Hindupedia, the Hindu Encyclopedia

Jump to:navigation, search

By Sage Durvasa

Translated By P.R.Ramachander

Sage Durvasa was the son of Sage Athri and his wife Anasooya. His brothers are sage Dathathreya and
Soma. It seems once Lord Shiva was so angry that no body dared to approach him. At that time Goddess
Parvathi told him “durvasam Bhavathi may” meaning, “I am not able to live happily with you.”. Lord
Shiva realized his mistake and took out all the anger from himself and placed it in the womb of Anasuya.
The child born later to her was the very short tempered saint “Durvasa”. He is also called “Krodha
Bhattagara”. (The personification of anger). People believe that Sage Durvasa consecrated the Kamakshi
at Kanchipuram. He is the author of two great books viz Arya dwisathi and Shakthi Mahimna stotra. The
later is similar to Adhi Shankara’s Soundarya Lahari in the sense that both deal with the power of
Goddess Parvathi and both have two parts, the first part being philosophy of Shakthi and the second,
the poetic description of Goddess Parvathi.

In Shakthi Mahimna Stotra there are 61 slokas. The first part deals with Kundalini, meditation
techniques, meaning and symbolism of several aspects of Shakthi worship and the second part is a very
poetic description of Goddess Shakthi.

Mathasthe mahimaa vakthum Shivenaapi sakyathe,

Bhkthyaaham sthothumichami praseeda mama sarvadhaa., 1

Oh mother, even Lord Shiva cannot describe your greatness adequately,

But I want to pray to you due to my devotion and so please help me.

Srimaatha sthripure parathpare devi trilokeemahaa,

Soundaryarnava mandhanoth bhava sudhaa prachurya varnojjwalam,

Udhyathbhanu sahasra noothana japa pushpa prabham they vapu,

Swanthe may trikona nilayam jyothirmay am vangmayam., 2

Oh mother, who lives in the three cities, and who is holier then the holiest,
May your form which is splendorous and which is the form of the words,
And which is the nectar obtained by churning the sea of beauty of the world,
Which is as brilliant as the rising sun and the newly opened cotton flower,
And which exists in the place shaped like a triangle, clearly shine in my mind.

Aadhikshantha samastha varna sumani prothe vithanaprame,

Brahmadhi prathimaabhikeelitha shadatharabhja kakshonnathe,

Brahmandabhja mahamane janani they moorthim bhaje chinmayeem,

Soushumnayatha peethapankaja maha Madhya trikona sthithaam., 3

I meditate on your holy form, which shines being decorated,

By the gems of all alphabets and which is far above the six wheels[1],
That are decorated by the forms of Lord Brahma and other gods,
And which is in the yellow lotus flowering in the Sushmna,
Which itself is in the middle of the lotus of universe of Brahma.

Yaa balendu divakarakshi madhuraa ya raktha padmasana,

Rathnakalpa virajithanga lathikaa poornendu vakthrojjwala,

Akshasthrak sruni pasa pusthaka karaa ya bala bhanu prabhaa,

Thaam devim tripuraam shivam hrudhi baje abheeshtardha sidhhyai sadaa., 4

I pray in my heart always for fulfilling all my desires to that Goddess,

Who is very sweet with the young moon and Sun as her eyes,
Who sits on the red lotus, who is like a climber decorated by red gems,
Who has a face like the full moon, who holds garland of beads,
Goad, rope and book in her hands, who shines like the rising sun,
And who is the consort of Shiva and who stays in the three cities.

Vande vagbhava maindavathma sadrusam Vedadi vidhyaa giro,

Bhashaa desa samudhbhavaapasu gathaschandaamsi saptha swaraan,

Thaalaan pancha maha dwaneen prakatayathyathma prakaasena yath,

Thatdwijam padavakya mana janakam Sri mathruke they param., 5

Oh goddess who is like a mother, I salute your Vagbhava bheeja,

Which is very similar to the nectar flowing out of the moon,
And which makes clear due to its glittering power, the Vedas,
Knowledge, Words, languages which have arisen in different places,
And Which are common among animals, meters, the seven musical notes,
The beats and the sound from five great percussion instruments
And which produces from within itself words, sentences and grammar.

Trilokyasphuta manthra thanthra mahimaa swathmokthi roopam vinaa,

Yadwijam vyavahara jala makhilam nasthyeya mathasthava,

Thajjaphya smarana prasaktha sumathi sarvagnatham praapya ka,

Sabdha brahma nivasa bhootha vadano nendardhhibhi spardhathe., 6

Oh mother, without the Vagbhava Bheeja which illustrates your form,

The manthras and Thanthras which are famous in all the three worlds,
And all the happenings in the entire universe verily cannot exist
And would not be that intelligent to the person,
Who is interested in chanting and meditating on it,
Who has the capability of knowing it fully and who has a face,
Which looks like the entrance to the word which is God,
And who is the object of great jealousy of Indra and other devas?

Mathraa yathra viraajatthe athivishadhaa thaam ashtadhaa mathrukaam,

Shakthim kundalineem chathur vidha thanum yas thathwavinmanyathe,

Sovidhyakhila janma karma durithaaranyam prabodhagninaa,

Bhasmikrutha vikalpajala rahitho matha padam thadwajeth.,

7 Oh mother, that seeker of truth who meditates on the “aa” of the Vagbhava bheeja,
Which becomes in to the fifty one alphabets, which is the form of eight mothers,
Which is the four fold power of Kundalini and which would burn with his fire like wisdom,
The forest of sins and karmas accumulated by him in several births,
And then he would become one without problems and attain the form of perennial bliss.

Thathe madhyama bheeja mamba kalayam aadhithya varnam kriyaa,

Gnechchadhi manantha shakthi vibhva vyakthim vyanakthi sphutam,

Uthpathi sthithi kalpa kalpitha thanu swathma prabhavena yath,

Kaamyam Brahma hareeswaraadhi vibhudhai kamam kriya yojithai., 8

Oh holy mother, I praise the middle seed of yours, which is of the colour of Sun,
Which is the cause for action, wisdom and desire and which clearly brings out,
The cause of the greatness of your immeasurable power,
And which is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva,
Who have been deputed to do the work allotted as per the desire,
Of your self to do the acts of creation, upkeep and destruction.

Kaamaan Kaaranathaam katthaana kanithaan kaayai rananthair mahi,

Mukhyai sarva manogathai rathigathaan manairanekai sphutam,

Kama krodha salobha moha mada mathsaryadhi shatkam cha yath,

Bheejam brajayathi pranoumi thadaham they sadhu kaameshwari., 9

Hey Kameshwari[2],I salute your root chant called Kamaraja which clarifies,
That which is known by the mind of Brahma and other devas,
And earth and other elements, by the mental process of every one,
By the axioms known as Shruthi and Smruthi and which clearly brings out,
The desires which are the reason for worldly acts and which even brings out,
The baser instincts like desire, anger, miserliness, passion, pride and jealousy.

Yad bhakthakhila kama poorana chana swathma prabhaavaam mahaa,

JJadyadwandha vidharanaika tharani jyothi prabodhapradham,

Yadhwaddeshu cha geeyathe sruthimukham mathra thryenomithi,

Sri vidhye thava sarva raja vasakruth thath kamarajam Bhaje.,

10

Oh Goddess Srividya, I meditate on the Kamaraja bheeja,

Which has its own capacity to satisfy all the wishes of devotees,
Which is the consciousness of wisdom which like the great light of Sun,
Can remove the very great darkness of ignorance,
Which with its three syllables starting with the letter Om,
Is being sung in the beginning of Vedas,
And which is capable of attracting even people like kings.

Yathe devi tritheeya bheeja manila jwalaavalee sannibham,

Sarvaadhaaraa thureeyabheeja mapara brahmabhidhaasabdhidham,

Moordhanyaantha visarga bhooshitha mahoukaarathmakaam thathparam,

Sarvidroopamanya thulya mahima swanthe mama dhyothathaam.,

11

Oh Goddess, Let my mind be enlightened by the third seed[3],

Which is considered as the seed of Thureeya which is the basis of all,
Which is termed as greater than Para Brahma, the ultimate truth,
Which is ornamented by “sa” which is the end of “sha”added with “Ow”,
Which is having the incomparably great form of “Ou”, having great fame,
And having the brilliance of crowds of the flames of great fire,

Sarva sarvatha yeva sarga samaye karyeenyantharaa,

Thatha divya hrusheeka karmabhiriyam samvyasruvaanaa paraa,

Chakardha vyavahaara karana thanu shakthir jagad roopini,

Yad bheejathmagathaam gatha thava shive thannoumi bheejam param., 12

I salute the divine seed (Para Bheeja)[4] which is like the seed of the entire world,
Which created everything in all forms at the start of creation,
And in between created the organs of karma as well as wisdom,
Which is of the form of the meaning of words and cause of everything,
And which is the great power which is the cause of the universe.

Agneendhu dhyumani prabhanjana dharaa neeranthara sthayenee,

Shakthir brahma hareesa vasava mukhaa marthyaa surathma sthithaa,

Srushta sthavara jangama sthitha mahaa chaithanya roopaa cha yaa,

Yad bheeja smaranena saiva bhavatheepradhurbhavathyambike., 13

Oh mother, you are experienced by meditating on the Para seed power,
You are the power in the fire, moon, sun, wind, earth, water and ether,
And you are the innate divine energy of devas like Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Indra,
As well as all asuras and created beings which are mobile as well as immobile,

Swathma sri vijithaja Vishnu maghava sri pooranaikavrutha,

Sadvidhyaa kavithaa vilasa llahari kallolini deepakam,

Bheeja yath tri guna pravruthi janakam brahmedhi yad yogina,

Santhaa sathya mupaasathe thadhiha they chithe dhadhe sripare., 14

Oh Goddess of the Srividya, I meditate on that seed letter “sou”,

Which has taken on itself the duty of filling its devotees with its innate wealth,
That easily is greater than the wealth of Brahma, Vishnu, Indra and other devas,
Which grants the power of true knowledge and the stream power of writing poems,
Which grants the power of the three qualities and is the object of meditation of peace loving yogis.

Yekaikam thava mathruke paratharam samyogi vaayogi vaa,

Vidhyadhi prakata prabhava janakam jadyanthakarapaham,

Yannishtascha mahothpalasana maha Vishnu praharthradhayo,

Devaa sweshu vidhishwanantha mahima spoorthim dhadhatyeva thath., 15

Oh mother, though each of the chants that please you are made by vowels,
This three syllable chant which does not have any composition of vowels,
Generates all types of effective knowledge and is the dispeller of the darkness of ignorance,
And Brahma sitting on lotus, Lord Vishnu and the lord of destruction, the Rudra,
Meditate on this chant and are definitely getting the great power to do their duties.

Itham threenyapi moola vagbhava maha sri kama raja sphura,

Chakthyagni chathu sruthi prakatithanyuthkrushta kootani they,

Bhootharthu sruthi sankhya varna vidhithanya raktha kanthe Shive,

Yo jaanaathi sa yeva sarva jagatham srushti sthithi dwamsakruth., 16

Oh Goddess Shivaa, who is the red colour of the rising sun,

The three syllables thus far told as well as the chief chants of,
Vag bhava, Maha Kama Raja and the very effective Shakthi,
Which originated from the four Vedas and is a three staged one,
Which is well known with five, six and four syllables,
If known by a person makes him capable of creation, upkeep and destruction.

Brahma yoni rama sureshwara surul lekhopi rukthai sthatha,

Marthandendu manoja hamsa vasudhaa, mayaabhi rutha sidhai,

Somambhu kshithi shakthibhi prakatithair bananga vedhai kramath,

Varnai srri shiva desikena vidhithaam vidhyaam thavabhasraye., 17

Oh mother, told by ka, ye, cha,la and hreem,

And especially by sa, ka, ha, il and hreem,

And further revealed by sa, ka, ye and hreem

Which has five, six and four syllables respectively,

And known by the world teacher Lord Shiva.
Is my ultimate point of surrender.

Nithyam yasthava mathrukakshara sakheem soubhaghya vidhyaam japeth,

Sampoojyakhila chakra raja nilayam sayam thanagni prabham,

Kamaakhyaam shiva nama thathwamubhayam vyapyathmanaa sarvatho,

Dheevyanthi miha thasya sidhi rachirath syath thwathswa roopaikathaa., 18

He who worships you,as being in the Sri chakra, which is the world,
As some one who has the colour of the raging fire of the evenings,
And as some one who pervades fully the god described as Kama,
And the principle of Shivaa completely with her lustrous form,
And also chants your Soubhagya chant[5] using the chain of beads[6],
Would soon become one with your great form.

KavyaiRva padithai kimalpa vidhushaam jogushya mania puna,

Kim thai vyakarair vibho bhudhishaya kim vabhidhana sriya,

Yethairambha na bhobaveethi sukavi sthaavathava srimatho,

Yavathannu sari sareethi saraneem padabhjayo pavaneem., 19

What is the use of reading epics and for those less wise,
What is the use of Grammer, which is being announced,
And what is the use of skill of oration, till one follows,
The holy path shown by your lotus like feet,
Because one does not posses the poetic skill till then.

Geham nakathi garvitha pravanathi stri sangamo mokshathe,

Dweshee mithrathi patakam sukruthathi thwath pada samsevanaath,

Mruthyur vaidhyathi dhooshanam sugunathi thwath pada samsevanaath,

Thwam vandhe bhava bheethi bhanjana kareem goureem gireesa priyaam., 20

By the service done to your feet, our home becomes like a heaven,
The proud one will salute us and making of love would take one to heaven,
The enemy will become one’s friend and great sins would become blessed acts,
Lord Vishnu would become one’s slave and Lord of death will become one’s doctor,
Demeaning words would become praise and so I salute you,
Who removes the fear of birth and is Gowri, the wife of the lord of mountain.

Aadhyai ragni raveendu bhimbha nilayai rambha trilingathmabhir,

Misraraktha sitha prabhai ranupamair yushmadpadai sthai sthribhi,

Swathmothpadhitha kala loka nigamavasdhamaradhi thrayai,

Rudhbhootham nama kalayedhyasthe sa danyo budha., 21

Oh primeval mother, You are called Tripura,

Because you were made with the three groups of letters,
And also by joining of the fire, Sun and the moon,
And also by the three peethas Mooladhara, Swayambhu and Bana,
And also by the black, red and white colours,
And also by the three incomparable words,
And also by time world classified as past, present and future,
And also by the three worlds generated by you called earth, patala and Swarga,
And also by the three Vedas which are Rik, Yajur and Sama,
And by the three states which are awaking, sleeping and dreaming,
And also by the three gods who are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva
And if some one tells this name with real devotion,
He is the one who has true wealth and true wisdom.

Aadhyo jaapyathamartha vachakathaya rooda swara panchamaa,

Sarvothkrushtathamartha vachakathaya varna pavarganthaka,

Vakthruthwena mahaa vibhoothi saranisthwaadharago hrudhgathe,

Brumadhye sthitha ithyatha pranavathaa they geeyathe ambaagamai., 22

Oh mother, the alphabet “aa” which has the greatest meaning in all that can be chanted,
And the alphabet “UU” which is fifth from it, which also is greatly meaningful,
And the alphabet “ma”[7] which is the end of the series of “pa” letters and,
Which as the spokesmen leads to very great wealth, and which respectively,
Are in the Mooladhara, the heart and between the eyes,
Clearly point out that, the Vedas say that the pranava made by these letters is yourself.

Gayathri sashirasthureeya sahitha sandhyaa mayeethyagamai,

Rakhyaathaa tripure thwameva mahathaam sarmapradha karmanaam,

Thathadarshena mukhya shakthirapi cha thwam brahma karmeshwaree,

Kartharhan purusho harischa savithaa budha shivasthwam Guru., 23

Oh Goddess Tripuraa, It has been told hat you are that Gayathri,
Which is recited with head chants[8] and with the fourth part,
And which has the form of dusk, as told by the Agamas,
And you are the one who blesses with sweet results for rituals,
And you are also the strength of each and every divine book,
And you are also Brahma, duty, goddess, doer and the receiver,
And you are also the Purusha, Vishnu,Surya, Budha, Shiva and Guru.

Anna praana mana prabhodha, paramanandhai shira, Paksha yuk,

Kosai panchabhirebhi rambha bhavathi methath praleenamithi,

Jyothi prajwala dhujjwalathma chapalaam yo veda sa Brahma vith., 24

Oh mother he is the knower of Brhamam, who understands you as,

The light of the soul which shines like the streak of lightning,
And which is same as the form revealed by the five kosas,
Annamaya, Pranamaya, manomaya, Vignamaya and Anandamaya,
And is seen as a form with a head, two wings, tail and a body,
And which has been clearly explained by Upanishad teachings,
And which is the truth hidden by the above five kosas.

Sachit thathwamaseethi vakya vidhithai radhyatma vidhyaa shiva_,

Brahmakhyai rakhila prabhava mahithai sthathwai sthribhi Sad guro,

Thwad roopasya mukharavina vivaraath samprapya deekshaa matho,

Yasthwa vindathi thathwatha sthadaha mithyaarye sa muktho BHaved., 25

Oh lady, he who learns from the lotus like face of his Guru,
Who is a form of yours which is the form of the three powerful principles,
The knowledge of the great percepts of Soul, knowledge, Vishnu and Brahma,
Which is known by the great mantra “ Sath-Chith-Thath thwam aasi”,
And surrenders to you knowing that it is in reality you,
Attains the great state known as salvation.

Sidhanthair bahubhi pramana gadithai ranyai ravidhyathamo,

Nakshthrair iva sarva mandha thamasam thavanna nirbhidhyathe,

Yavathe savitheva sammathamidham nodhethi viswanthare,

Janthor janma vimochanaikabhidhooram Sri Shambhavam Sri Shive., 26

Oh Goddess Shivaa, till the six fold knowledge[9] of yours,

Which is acceptable like the sun to every one and is capable,
Of giving salvation from birth to all souls, does not arise in this world,
The darkness of ignorance cannot be wiped out by all other principles,
Similar to the bevy of stars which are not able to remove darkness of night.

Athamasou sakalendriyasraya mano budhayathibhi shochitha,

Karma badha thanur janincha maranam pritheethi yath karanam,

Thathe devi maha vilasa lahari divyayudhaanaam jaya,

Sthasman sad guru mapyudhebhya kalayethvameva chenmuchyathe., 27

Hey goddess, this soul suffers sorrows due to mind and intelligence,
Which are the basic force of all the sense organs and is also tied by Karma,
And attains the cycle of birth and death and this is only due to the victory,
Of your divine armaments which are the tide of your playfulness,
And so if that soul approaches a good guru and sing about you, he would become free.

Naanaa yoni sahasra sambhava vasajjathaa jananyakaatha,

Yetheshaam gananaiva nasthi mahatha samsara sindhor vidher,

Bheetham maam nithara manaya saranam rakshanukamparnidhe., 28

Of treasure of pity, being born out of thousands of wombs in the past,

How Many mothers and how many famous fathers do I have?
In the future how many more people are going to be added to this?
Taking in to account this very numerous number of them,
Please save me, who is afraid of this cycle and who does not have any other option.

Dehakshobha karair vruthair bahgu vidhai danaischa homair japai,

Santhanait hayamedha mukhya sumakhai nana vidhair karmabhi,

Yath sankalpa kalpa jala malinam prapyam padam thasya they,

Dhooradeva nivarthathe paratharam matha padam nirmalam., 29

Oh mother, that position which can be attained by constant,

Austerity troubling the body, various penances, charities and homas,
Various chants, getting children, performing sacrifices like Aswamedha,
And various similar acts is tainted by the thoughts desiring fulfillment,
But your pure and untainted state is far, far away from that.

Panchasannija dehajaksharamayair nana vidhai dhathubhir,

Bahvarthai pada vaakya mana janakai rardhavinaa bhavithai,

Sabhiprayavadharsha kama phaladhai khyathai rananthairidham,

Viswam vyapya chidhatmanaamahamithyujjrumbhase mathruke., 30

Oh mother, using the fifty root letters which arose from you,
And using different type of roots several words, sentences, and axioms,
And also by using several things which do not change from their import,
But have very deep meaning, leading to duties and wealth,
You have spread all over the world and are proving,
That you and you only, exist every where and in everything.

Srichakram sruthi moola kosa ithi they samsara chakrathmakam,

Madhye bhaindhava simha peeda lallithe thwam Brahmavidhya Shive., 31

Oh Goddess Shivaa, It is known that The Srichakra which is in the pattern of the world,
Is like the root for the Vedas and is like the heart for the sound “Om”,
And the splendorous light of the chant with fifty five letters,
Is everywhere and you with your red colour along with all your ancillary devathas,
Are sitting prettily in the center point of it, in your Brahma vidhya form.

Bindu prana visarga jeeva sahitham bindu tribheejathmakam,

Shatkootaani viparyayena nigadeth tharithra balaaksharai,

Yebhi samputitham prajapya vihared prasada manthram param,

Guhyad guhya thamam sayoga janitham sad bhoga moksha pradam., 32

The Para prasada Mantra, which is the secret of secrets,

And which results in happiness, wealth and salvation,
Has Bindu, Prana and Visarga and has three forms,
Which when reversed becomes a six part chant,
Along with the continuous flowing Bala letters,
Which are to be connected at the beginning and at the end[10].

Translated by P. R. Ramachander

Among the several names of the goddess Parvaty one of the very important is Tripurasundari. This means the
prettiest woman of the three worlds. It is also possible that she is called Tripurasundari because she is the
consort of Lord Shiva who is called Tripura because he contains within himself all the three forms of Brahma,
Vishnu and Shiva.

Kadambha vana charineen, muni kadambha kadambhineem,

Nidhambha jitha bhoodaram sura nithambhini sevitham,
Navamburuha lochanam abhinavambhudha shyamalam,
Trilochana kudumbhineem tripurasundarim asraye., 1
I salute that beauty of the three worlds,
Who is the consort of the three eyed one,
Who wanders in the forest of Kadambha[1]
Who is like a rich cloud to the sages[2],
Whose hips excel the mountains,
Who is served by wide hipped deva maidens,
Who has eyes like newly opened lotus,
And whose colour is that of the rich grey cloud.

Kadambha vana vasineem kanaka vallaki dharineem,

Maharhamani harineem mukha samullasa dwarineem,
Daya vibhava karineem,visadha lochineem charineem,
Trilochana kudumbhineem tripurasundarim asraye., 2

I salute that beauty of the three worlds,

Who is the consort of the three eyed one,
Who lives in the forest of Kadambha trees,
Who carries a Veena made of Gold,
Who wears a necklace of precious gems,
Whose face is aglow with the delight of nectar,
Who in her mercy showers all that is wanted,
Who has exceedingly pretty eyes,
And who keeps on shifting.

Kadambha vanashalaya kuchbarollasanmalaya,

Kuchopamithashailaya gurukrupalasad velaya,
Madarunakapolaya madhura geetha vachalaya,
Kayapi gana leelaya kavachiha vayam leelaya 3

We are playfully covered by her from all evils,

By her dwelling in Kadambha forest,
By her garland which is kept above her breasts,
By her breasts which are like mountains,
By her grace and benevolence which is great,
By her blushed cheeks which are red,
By her mellifluous sweet toned songs,
And by her body which is blue like the cloud.

Kadambha vana madhykam kanaka mandala lopa sthithaam,

Shadambhuruha vasineem sathath sidha sowdamineem,
Vidambhitha japa ruchim vikhacha chandra choodamanim,
Trilochana kudumbhineem tripurasundarim asraye., 4
I salute that beauty of the three worlds,
Who is the consort of the three eyed one,
Who is in the middle of Kadambha forest,
Who lives golden disc which is,
Situated on the six lotus flowers,
Who is the permanent light giver to the seers,
Who likes fully open japa flowers,
And who wears the crescent as her head gear.

Kuchancithabanjikaam kutila kunthalalangrutham,

Kusheshaya nivasineem kutila chitha vidwesineem,
Madaaruna vilochanaam manasi jari sammohineem,
Madhnga muni kanyakaam, madhurabhashineen ashraye., 5

I take refuge in her who talks sweetly,

Who is the daughter of sage Mathanga,
Who holds the Veena close to her breasts,
Who prettily makes up her curly tresses,
Who lives the peals of water lily,
Who hates people with evil thoughts,
Who has eyes red due to her zest,
And who entices the destroyer of the god of love,

Smareth prathama puspineem, rudhira bindu neelabaram,

Graheetha madhu pathrikaam madhu vigurna nethranchalam,
Gana sthans baronnatham galitha soolikaam shyamalam,
Trilochana kudumbhineem tripurasundarim asraye., 6

I salute that beauty of the three worlds,

Who is the consort of the three eyed one,
Who holds the first flower of God of love,

Notes
1. Jump up ↑ Kadambha is a tree called Nauclea cadamba. It is said to put forth orange, fragrant buds at the roaring of thunder
clouds. A withered relic of the Kadambha tree is preserved in the precincts of the Madurai Sri Meenakshi temple. It also
means multitude. In that sense, the Kadambha forest stands for the universe that the Devi permeates completely.
2. Jump up ↑ She is like a cloud that quenches the thirst for knowledge of the sages.

The Bhasyam of AD so far had described the beauty of Various forts, Palaces made of gold,
silver, nav rathnas, beauty of deities and nature also. In this regards I recall what Maha Swamy
had said about Beauty.
Quote :
Beauty has an universal appeal. Ambaa is that which makes all beautiful things beauty. All of
everything that is beautiful is the beauty of Ambaa. Begining and end.
The beauty of Ambaal alone is True beauty. So while speaking of Ambaal's beauty, we do not
have to specifically use the word Beauty before Ambaa.
Even artificial objects like Art and sculptures attract even though man made because they are
beautiful.
Even out ward beauty ( even though temporary ) also attracts all people, even when opposed to
one another, gets attracted because of beauty.
Sundary itself denotes HER as it pertains to ambaal.
Un quote :

anywhere a beautiful form like that of Tripura Sundary.

Upasakas doing Navavrana Puja would be familiar with these 10 kalas and hence the adaaram

These are the Eternal play of ambaaji and She enjoys Playing with her Children just like our
Mothers Played, when we were infants by hiding, seeking and revealing after sometime.
In family reunions Mother is the Most delighted one, specially when the family comes to see her
after few years. Like this Ambaaji enjoys, when Her children integrates finally with Her
through MoKsA. In our great religion even the worst criminals have Hopes and there is no
need for a SAVIOR.
A wonderful Sahityam of PapaNasa SHIVAN -- " Naan Oru Vilayattu Pillaya " (He is asking
Ambaa - Am I a Playing Doll for you ?) would bring tears in the eyes of any ambaa devotee,
when you hear this song in the light of meaning of this AD 113.
This is one of my personal favorite, which I make somebody sing as an Upachara to Ambaa
after NPuja. I am unfortunately born as a Dumb to the world of Karnatic Music, as I cant sing
these songs, where the compositions come from the seat of spiritual Heart and not mental or
intellectual work.
At the same time,I should consider my self fortunate as I was not Deaf to this Divine Music, due
to the up bringing in an atmosphere of Carnatic Music. My Mother would sing and Chant
continuously during the daily chores of her Cooking lasting 2 hrs. Even now she does and She
is 80 Plus.
When a food prepared in such a way is consumed in any home,it is sure to bring the Ambaa's
grace. It may be due to this reason that the the woman were not ordained by Sastras to do the
Karmas but were entitled to the fruits of the Karma.
By Ambaa's Grace we we have just crossed a little more than 50 % out of the total 213 shlokas.
After Completion of AD Bhashya, Ambaa willing, we will continue with another great work of
Duvasa Maharishi " Shakthy Mahimna Stotra " .

114 ) I forever focus my mind on the Argya Patra positioned in South,West and North Of
Chinthamani Gruha. Let it enhance my prolonged existence.

115 ) In the place where the Argya Patra is kept, Brahma,Vishnu,Shiva is seated, opposite to the
patra. Due the radiance of their Palaces, the Cosmos subsists.Let it fetch the Well Being.

116 ) In the South-East of the Chinthamani Gruha is the Agni Kunda where " LALITHA "
emerged. I pray to this kunda as well to the Broad and dancing Conflagration (inferno), inside
the agni kunda.

Unquote :
The word Conflagration may not be quite appropiate as it denotes a destructive fire but let this
be taken as destruction of our Re-births.

117 ) In the South-west of Chinthamani Gruha made of Chinthamany rathnas encompassing

Nine Radiating Plates with an Elevation of 100 Yojanas in the shape of 'SRI CHAKRA',the
celestial Chariot (Ratha) is mediated upon. ( This is understood as 'CHAKRA RAJA RATHA' )

118 ) In the same Direction with Gold Flags sequentially joined with a pinnacle of ratnas, there
is another Chariot of Devi. Let us Meditate on it.

119 ) In the North-west of Chinthamani gruha, with diverse types flags, prayed by All, the

123 ) The Chinthamani Gruha has the dimension of Two Yojana and the walls are of a quarter
Yojana thick where the four Vedas Exist as four holes or gaps. Let it exist distinctly.

124 ) In the Chinthamnai Gruha,in each of the gaps due to the VIMARSHA Sakthy's Creative
energy, the Created Devies are like new-fangled figurines with Godliness.Let them bestow
Fame.

( The PRAKASHA aspect of Brahman will not reveal its own Shakthy. The Creative forces of
Cosmos with diversity is the Vimarsha aspect. The Sun's light which is purely white reveals itself
as LOVEHITYAM in dawn. ( Shows itself as Reddish ) This is an analogy of Vimarsha. To know
about Devi one needs the competency of the Dwara Devies which exist as Pindam.

UNQUOTE :
The meaning the last sentence translated as it is, cant be comprehended. Explanation Welcome.

125 )In the Chinthamani Gruha in the midst of the famed stage of ratna, the Chakra made of
BINDU which exists in all Peetas is Meditated upon.

126 ) To all Chakras in the lower Plane, the living Anima and other Siddhy Devies exists as
rays of light, shield me from harm.

( The Beam of the light of the Avarana Devathas Originates from the Mega radiance of
DEVI.They are no different than Devi. Ref : Animathibir Avrutham Mayukyhi : The TEN Siddhy
Devies are ANIMA, LAGHIMA,MAHIMA, EESIDHWA,VASIDWA,PRAKAMYA, BUDDHI,
ICHHA, PRAPTHY, SARVAKAMA. )

127 ) Above the lath of Animaa and other Siddhy Devathas are seated BRAHMI and other
MAATHAS and exist as a glow of reflected light of Devi, sporting the third phase of moon. Let
them protect my Security.

( The Eight Maathas are

BRAHMI,MAHESHWARI,KOWMARI,VAISHNAVI,VAARAHI,MAHEND
RI,CHAMUNDA,MAHALAKSHMY)

Un quote :
Lath ( In Tamil it is Palagai )

128 ) Above them in the lath made of Ratna having a large youthful breasts, led by
SAMSKSHOBINI , are the Mudra Devies. Let them eliminate my Perplex ion.

( The Ten Mudra Shakthies have the Title “SARVA”. They are SAMSKSHOBINI, VIDRAVINI,
AAKARSHINI VASAHAKARI, UNMADHINI,MAHAGHUSHA, KAECHARY,
YONI,TRIKANDA. These Shakthies are Concealed and we Reveal these Shakthies by showing
the appropriate MUDRAS. )

On a personal note :
It took a long time to perfect the Sarva Kecheri Mudra which initially looked complicated. But
my Guruji , very considerate allowed me to show Yoni. Look forward for other experience with
regard to this Mudra.

129 ) Made of three laths in the TRI LOKYA MOHANA CHAKRA , yoginies known as
PRAKATA exist. They have been created by Tripura Devi.

( In the Sri Chakras first Aavarana in the TRI LOKYA MOHANA CHAKRA Yoginies are known
as Prakata. To reachDevi who is PARAMATMA TATVA , SHE herself has taken the outward
appearance to break the Worldly attachment and to make us Bond with her. Samskhonini and
others, Brahmi and rest, Anima and others are PRAKATA YOGINY . Sthula, Sukshma,Kaarana
are the 3 states or condition of the Body. In the Sthula state the thought I ( Ego ) comes.
This is common to every human and to change this awareness external to internal She is
PRAKATA. She has the energy to create a center of attention to the three worlds – So She is
TRILOKYA MOHANA. TRIPURA the Chakreshwari is heading all the Prakata Yoginies who
are the rays of lights of Maha Tripura Sundaray.

130 ) I meditate upon the KAMAKARSHINI and other Devies sporting the third phase of
Moon having a complexion of Red Lillies with Radiant eyes and seated above.

( The Sixteen Yoginies are Kama Karshini, Budhya Karshini Ahankara Karshini , Sabdha
Karshini , Sparsha Karshni , Rupa Karshni, Rasa Karshini, Ghandha, Karshini , Chitta
Karshni,Daeirya Karshini Karshini, Smruthya Karshini, Nama Karshini, Beeja Karshini , Atma
Karshini , Amrutha Karshini and shareera Karshini .

They are known as Nithya Kala Devies and Gupta Yoginies ( Secret ) ,hidden from vision.
Instead of expressing their force through the STHULA body they articulate through the
SUKSHMA body as , Mind,Intellect,Ego,Chitha,Vasana,Samskara having a smaller rays of
light of Devi. Their job is to express the force which is Subtle.

131 ) The Chakreshwari known as “ TRIPURESI “ wearing an ornament of ratnas over her
neck served by Gupt aYoginies seated in the Chakra “SARVASAPARI PURAKA “ eradicate
my Sins.

( It is known as Sarvasa Pari Puaka because all expectations are slaked. She rules over
Sthula,Sukhma, and Kaarana, so SHE IS TRIPURESHI.)
On A Personal note :
In the Sri Vidya Navavarana Puja, the Tarpana and Puja are done simultaneously to each of
the Yoginies and they are so much delighted and as a result out pour their Blessings to the
Sadhak. Fruits yielded by the rites to each yogini must be surrendered to Lalitha Maha tripura
Sundarayas Abhaya Mudra at the end of the Puja as per puja Krama.
This is to only to realize that Ambaaji is the Ultimate Phala Dhata. The only One, who awards
the fruits of our actions and that we should not be tempted by Petty rewards even if it is a
Swarga Loka ( which is again limited by Time and Space ) .
By constantly performing the Navavarana Puja, Maha Swamy has explained that this puja has
the ability to bring or evolving to the Advaitha Siddithy in the Sadhak as the constant act of
renunciation brings Inner purity and forms the very foundation and means to receive the
instructions of Jnana. Till that happens every Sadhak shall not give up the pujas, japas and
tapas.
Most of us who are lucky enough enjoy " ABHUDAYA " which is lower happiness in terms of
good ouse, wealth, sons, fame, family, knowledge peace etc But all these have a defect. They are
temporary - In these happiness there is also inbuilt unhappiness, happiness of addictive
nature, happiness of Never satisfying nature and so on which i dont want to dwell or elaborate
through examples.
Where as " NiHSREYAS " is the supreme Bliss or Happiness without any defect as aforesaid.
While each Upasaka's aim is Nihsreyas - Moksha,he may fall short in this Janma by going to
Brahmma Loka or when he misses even this Brahmaloka, he is Guaranteed at least the
'ABHYUDAYA " and will start the upasana from where he left continuing to enjoy the material
life.
In short the devotees of Ambaaji need not worry about future which is Guranteed as She is
Bhoga-Moksha Dayini and for now it is enought to hold tight the padukas of Ambaa like the
Baby Monkey holding the Mother Monkey with full grip.

132 ) In that Ratna peetam, possessing the Complexion of Lotus petals, Having a cover over
their Breast ( In Tamil it is Called Marbu Kacchu which can be seen in Female
Statues in temples ) ANANGA KUSUMA and other devies is reflected upon.

( The Eight Yoginies are Ananga Kusuma, Ananga Maekala, Ananga Madhana, Ananga
Madhanatura, Ananga Rekha, Ananga Veghnini, Anangaa Kusa, Ananga Maliny )

133 ) In the Chakra of Sam-kshobanam the Caring Chakreswari SRI TRIPURA

SUNDARI along with Ananga Kusuma and other Gupta Yoginies look into me with
commiseration in their Eyes and save me.

( The Capacity to pulverize what is seen as Many to only is Sarva kshamshobanam. The
consequence of the shobana of Moola Tatvas comprising of Mahat, Ahankara, Prakrithi, and
Purusha. They further after Shobana become eight which are Bhutha Thanmatras ,
Bhutha,Gynendra,Karmendriya,Antha Karanam, and Jiva. This is highly Secretive.
GUPTA TARAM. In LS Refer Khsobini Sukhsma Rupini. Tripura Sundarai is beautiful
with Sthula.Sukshma,Karana Shareeram )

134 ) In that Circle or Round, the living Sumshobini and other Shakthies are adolescent with
their dancing mane. I am keeping them in my mind.

( They are 14 Yoginies with a TITLE . They are Samkhobini,Vidravini,

Aakarshini,Aahladhini,Sammohini,Sthambini,Jrumbini, Va-
shanakari,Ranjini,Unmadhini,Arthasadhini,Sampathy-Purini,Manthra-mayee,Dwantv\ a-
kSyankari)

135 ) In the Chakra known as " Sowbhagya ", TRIPURAVASINI be always Celebrated.

The Shakthies which are called the Sampradaya yoginies eternally make me Cheerful.
( The Sampradaya is the GURU - SISHYA Viz Guru initiating the Sishya and the Sishya
maturing as Guru. Here the Owner only gives the Ownership to the deserved -- So it is the
DEVI HERSELF going into Guru to initiate. For that purpose the yoginies invilved are
SAMSKHOBINI and others. Sow-baghyam is the result of good deeds on many Janmas or
births coupled with grace of Ambaa which is given by this Chakra. So due to Ambaa's grace
only Guru would come. Scriptures say " Desika Rupena Darshithapudayaam, Guru Murthe
Namami Kaamakshy " (refer Shyamala Navaratna Maala )
On a Personal Note :
Some of Our dearest Ambaa devotees sometimes confide and keep writing to me to help them
find a Guru. While appreciating their eagerness and enthusiasm to advance their Upasana, I
would advise them to be patient and increase their Devotion to Ambaa by regular constant
Chants and puja.
Otherwise,Unfortunately in the spiritual market they become gullible and the so called Guru
(fakes) start fleecing their money.
I had fullest faith in our scriptures and what is said above was my personal experience. I had to
wait for 12 years for a GURU. and it was Guru's call and not my request before 22 years.
So one can see how True our scriptures are in the light of the meaning of the shloka. Earlier,
Whenever I used to meet Great Upasakas, I used to mentally think whether would he give me
Deeksha and these thoughts used to run through very frequently.
So I very well understand the urge of dear devotees for Deeksha. It is SHE who selects amongst
us for initiation and NOT WE. But all said, we have the full right to ask our Divine MOTHER
why are you not coming in the form of Guru and How long would it take you ? Question Her
constantly, pester Her and it our right as Her Child.
To recall Ambaa's Play after I got Deeksha, Pujya Rajam Mami asked me whether I need
Deeksha from Her, though She knew I was already initiated. I did my Namaskarams and said
NO Way. Perhaps this would have been a test to see whether I had Full Faith in my Guru.
Pujya Mami had shown full Grace and sympathy to lift me spiritually in many ways including
giving me a Silver Maha Meru and few times allowed my spouse to Chant the Navavarana puja
while She used to do it.
Pujya Mami was full of Karuna and Her Knowledge of Sri Vidya was like an ocean and due to
this She was Conferred the title of Lopa Mudra by HH Sringeri Peetam.
She was one of the very few who were allowed by Maha Periyava to do Nava varana Puja to
Srichakra installed by Adi Sankara inside the Sanctum of Kaamakshi temple.Amazed priests
after observing Pujya Mami doing Chandi Parayana in Kaamkya Peet in Assam, gave Her a
Sword. When she removed it from the Sheath to show me, I felt it was as if Chandi Devi before
me. such was the Tapas and knowledge of Pujya mami and I offer my prostrations to Her and
dedicate this mail to Her.

136 ) The Sampradaya Yoginies live above the Mani Peeta in a big Circle which has a diameter
of four hands length and I meditate on them.

( The ten yoginies are Sarva Siddi-pradha, Sarva Sampath-Pradaha,Sarva Priyankari,Sarva

Mangala-karini,Sarva Kama-pradha,Sarva Dukka-Vimochini,Sarva Mruthyu-prsamani,Sarva
Vigna - Nivarini,Sarvanga Sundari,Sarva Sowbhagya-Dhayini.)

137 ) In the Chakra known as SARVARTHA SADAGHA,the deity awarding all benefits, the
Divine TRIPURA Shree - the Utterna Yogini award me the good.
(The Guru, Shishya and Vidya a TRIANGLE where exists the Triputi is known as KULA. The
KULOTHIRNA extends her Shakthy to widen the Gyna relationship of Guru-Shishya.Also in the
same category of Shakthy are the Sarva Siddhy-Prada and others. This Chakra is Knwon as
Sarvartha Sadagha as it yield what ever we seek for.)
Notes :
It is interesting to see what Maha Periyavaa has said Can a Guru who has had Anubhuthy be
found ?
Sastras speak of a guru who has had the spiritual experience. Upanishads refers him as a
Brhama Nishtay and the Gita calls him Thatva Dharsihnah.
One need not have a doubt whether in these days such a guru who has had saakshatkaram can
be found. If one has a real craving,Ishwara will never fail him to show a such Guru. Even
falling short of Brahma Nishtar all the time Eeswara will show a Shreshta among those
available and at the time of initiation Ambaa Herself would enter into the Guru and do the
initiation Herself. There need not be any Doubt about this. Just as the aspirant is craving to
find such guru, eeswara will also be craving for a True Upasaka.

CONCLUDED.

Namasthe.

With the last post of Shloka 213 the Arya Dwishaty "Gnana Yagna" (as beautifully coined by
Sri ram Ji in one of the mail) is concluded.
I particularly thank our Moderator Sridhar Ji and full credit goes to him for posting the Moola
in the beginning which in fact had motivated me to attempt to translate the meaning from the
Tamil Bhasyam book of Brahma Shee S.V Radhakrishna Sastrigal who was very close to
Periyavaa.
HH used to consult him on matters relating to Srividya and Tantra Sastras and it is Not that
Periyavaa didn't know these sastras but was done to reveal to the world, such Scholars and
Maha Upasakas in Sri Vidya.
By Ambaa's Grace, Arya Dwishaty has finally come to an end despite the irregularity of my
posting for which I express my regret.
The Phenomenal world is Maya and the only Truth is Shivam or Ambaa (Since we are all
devoted to Her). and there is no difference between the Shiva and Sakthy if we see Soundarya
Lahary which extols Ambaa -- " without you how could Shiva exercise power".
We are all people who CAN'T, all at once do away with the worldly matters and are not mature
enough to reach the state of Gyna, as we cant in the present state give up the worldly out look,
due to our total involvement in worldly material affairs of senses and the Mind.
In order to extricate Us from the trap of senses, pleasures, sorrow, fear etc and to go out of the
present orbit Sage Durvasa in AD shows that the serene root is manifested as Shakthy co-joined
as Eshwara. He further teaches us to see that there is Ambaa's sports all around and exhorts us
to involve our Mind and senses in meditating upon Her and sing Her glory.
glory to earn the grace of Ambaa and SHE would reach us to the stage of the Causative
FUNCTIONLESS BRAHMAN. (SHIVA)
No wonder Mahaswamy observes that Arya Dwishathy,Mukha Panchadashy and Soundarya
Lahary are ratna-traya, for taking to the path of devotion to Ambaaji for all of us.
I thank all the members who have corrected my postings.
