Sub : Revised scales of Pay, 2009 – Re-option to come over to the revised
scales subsequent to clarification / revision of scales of pay, etc. –
Regarding.

I am to invite your attention to the references cited.

2) Representations have been made by certain employees seeking revised


option consequent on the issue of clarifications subsequent to issue of the
Government Order cited. It has also been represented that employees whose
services are regularized with retrospective effect and thereby happen to get
enhanced pay in the pre-revised scale and those appointed to Selection Grade /
Special Grade with retrospective effect, wish to revise their original option, if they
derive benefit consequent on such orders may be permitted to exercise revised
option.

3) I am to state that necessary provision has been made in Tamil Nadu


Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 2009 under rule -8 regarding exercising of option to
come over to the revised scales of pay. However, I am to state that revised option

exercised by an employee who wish to revise his original option to come over to the
revised pay scale on a different date consequent on issue of clarifications by the
Government or on revision of scales of pay ordered subsequent to issue of orders
regularizing the services with retrospective effect or grant of Selection Grade /
Special Grade with retrospective effect may be admitted and the pay revised
accordingly.

4) I am also to state that such re-option should be exercised within three


months from the date of issue of clarification or orders revising the scales of pay or
grant of retrospective regularization of services or grant of Selection Grade / Special
Grade with retrospective effect, as the case may be.
