Statewise Operational Holdings Distribution

This table shows the percentage distribution of operational farm holdings by size for each Indian state and union territory, based on data from the 2005-06 and 2010-11 Agriculture Censuses. The holdings are categorized as marginal (less than 1 hectare), small (1-2 hectares), semi-medium (2-4 hectares), medium (4-10 hectares), and large (over 10 hectares). Across India, the majority of holdings are marginal in size, though this percentage increased from 2005-06 to 2010-11. There is variation between states in the distribution of farm sizes.
