Michaela Kemerly is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University, with the goal of minoring in specialized needs. She has attended Shenandoah High School and Ivy Tech Community College, maintaining a 3.3 GPA or higher. Throughout her education, she has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities and volunteer experiences related to education, special needs, and her community. Volunteer Record

Legacy events, formally Snug Harbor: 2011-2015 As part of the FFA, I had the opportunity to help at Snug
Harbor events hosted at Shenandoah. I've been to all three of our snug events including: Snug Halloween,
Snug Christmas, and prom. Snug Harbor is a home for the mentally disabled, and being able to attend these
events changes your point of view on life.

Head Start Christmas: 2011-2015 The student leaders plan a trip to the Head Start of Middletown, and we
would go in the morning to make Christmas ornaments, sing Christmas songs, read a Christmas story, and we
even had a special visit from Santa Clause at the end.

Vacation Bible School teacher 2011-2013 During the summers, I taught music class to the kids at Vacation
Bible School, we teach songs and dance moves to show to their parents during a program the following
Sunday morning.

Kids against Hunger: 2013-2014. I was joined by several community members at Hagerstown Elementary
school to pack meals to be sent to local food pantries and Haiti.

State Fair Setup 2013-2014 I have travelled to the FFA pavilion to set up for the state fair. We have painted the
putt-putt holes, filled in mulch in areas, and planted flowers.

Meals of Hope: 2014 in Washington, D.C. during the summer, over 300 FFA members, including myself,
packed over 55,000 meals for homeless in the D.C. Area.

Henry County Ag Day: 2014. I got the opportunity to go to Henry County Ag Day and teach first graders
about how pigs turn into sausage on their pizza. It was a great learning experience for them, as well as myself.

Senior Day of Caring: 2014. In the fall, we went to New Castle memorial park and cleaned up. We swept
floors in buildings, picked up sticks, and painted playground equipment.

Cadiz Food Pantry: 2014-2015. Ive gone to the food pantry to help people carry stuff to their car, and pass out
the food items.

Pack Away Hunger: 2015. I was blessed to go to this event formally known as Kids against Hunger again, and
we packed over 140,000 meals to be sent to the community and Guatemala.

Page Day: 2015. I went with Indiana FFA to be a page at the state house. I watched some of the session in the
House and learned about the legislation process.

Artober Fest and Polar Express night: 2015. The Global Creative Arts Association at New Castle Ivy Tech
hosted a night in October and December for the community to come in and we had crafts, refreshments, book
readings, and games.
Walk A Mile in my shoes: 2016. I went with the Ivy Tech Education Outreach Club to do Muncies walk a
mile in my shoes.

Ivy Tech Service days: 2016-2017. I went to Ivy Tech Community days in Anderson in 2016 and volunteered
at Helping Hands Food pantry. I pushed carts out to peoples cars and helped them unload their food items. In
2017, I volunteered at ARF loving the animals, cleaning out their cages, and taking the dogs for walks.

eRace the R Word: 2016. I did the 5k for raising awareness for people with special needs.

Child care at Minnestrista: 2017. The Education Outreach club went to Minnetrista for the day and provided
child care for families who were participating in the event going on.
