It is based upon the formul ae presented in I Formul as for Stress and Strain, 4th and 5th editions, Roark and Young. The program is’ based upon the formulae presented in ‘Formulas for Stress and Strain, 4th and Sth Editions, Roark and Young, Table 17 - “Formilas for Curved Beams' which are based on elastic smal] deflection theory. In determining stresses, the effects of curvature are’ taken into account using the Winkler-Bach formula (Ref. Advanced Mechanics of Materials - Seely and Smith). The output comprises two files; The Summary file echoes the ring dimensions, prints the ring properties and lists the stresses for the combined loadcase only. The Force file tists forces and moments for each individual loadcase and the combined Toadcase. - The loadcases (which may be combined) are illustrated in Figure 1. the Sign convention is indicated in the top right han corner. All the diagrams are drawn at 0° degree phase. These diagrams also give recommended limitations to the various parameters. The program units are: “wn for Length "Degrees" for Angular Measurements "KN" for FORCES “KNM" for MOMENTS The program is intended for use as a DESIGN AID ONLY.
