Head Ultrasound Anatomy 2013 (Compatibility Mode)

This document discusses the importance of understanding brain anatomy for performing head ultrasounds in neonates. It begins by stating that head ultrasounds are easier to learn than echocardiography because brain anatomy is more logical and symmetrical, but there are pitfalls in interpreting increased echogenicity. It emphasizes that understanding the 3D spatial relationships between brain structures is key to learning ultrasound. The document then describes some of the external and internal brain anatomy that are important to recognize in ultrasound images, including lobes, sulci, gyri, and vascular structures.

Introduction
Head ultrasound is considerably easier to learn than
echocardiography because cerebralanatomy more logical and
symmetrical than the heart. However, there are pitfalls,
particularly with interpretation of increased echogenicity.
Anatomy is the important thinks if you want to learn
ultrasound. The only way to learn by understanding the
spatial anatomy. You need to understand the brain anatomy,
each structure related to others in 3D dimension
