                    Unlubricated operation
                    When two unlubricated surfaces rub
against each other, friction and wear steel
                    results due to plastic deformation,
local cold welding and shearing of
                    asperity contacts on both surfaces.
                                                                                    bronze

fluid lubrication, when the sliding steel

                    separating both surfaces, may be
built up. However this separation is
not maintained under start up and bronze
