Dear Parents,
We understand that you might currently be
going through a difficult time and are feeling unsure
about what you can do to make the experience less
stressful for your child.
The stress caused by divorce has been
found to weaken the quality of parent-child
relationships. Research has proven that there is a
direct connection between the amount of time spent
and the quality of parent-child relationships. Sufficient
routine time supports the development and
sustainability of high quality parent-child relationships,
therefore it is essential for parents to go the extra
mile to make time for their child.
We believe that you may be feeling a little
worried or lost. Hence, we came up with this book to
provide you with a comprehensive list of engaging
activities you can engage your child in while
enhancing the quality of your time together.
Now get ready to have lots of fun!
With Love,
The Production Team
Spending quality time with
your child is fundamental to
building a high quality,
strong and happy parent
child relationship.
The following relationship
building activities are
designed to enhance the
relationships between
parents and children; it also
serves as a guideline and a
source of inspiration for
parents.
Letter Writing
Write and send letters that convey
your thoughts for the other party.
Some children feel more
comfortable expressing
themselves through writing. The
exploration of an alternative
form of expression may provide
you with more information about
your childs thoughts and feeling.
Personalised Book
Work together to create personalised
books a recipe book, storybook, or
any book of your choice!
These books can be created and
decorated with the use of common
craft materials such as coloured
paper, crayons, pens and collages.
This activity can be continued over a
period of time, where stories can be
built on or recreated. Children may
find this activity exciting due to the
eagerness they have for working
with their parent to complete the
book. This allows you and your child
to bond while spending time
together.
Camping
Build a makeshift tent at home using
a large piece of cloth or bed sheets,
chairs and some pillows.
Spend quality time with your child in
the tent by reading to them, having
a picnic or telling them stories, or
even have them do the talking!
This provides both of you with
opportunities to spend time together
and maybe even learn more about
each other during this bonding time.
Tattle Monster
Make a tattle monster out of an
empty tissue box! Decorate it in any
way you both want, with materials
such as egg cartons, googly eyes and
paint.
Younger children can tell the tattle
monster their woes while older
children can write it down and feed it
to the tattle monster.
This encourages your child to share
his/her feelings and thoughts in a
manner they feel comfortable with.
Scrapbooking
Start a scrapbook to document not
just special moments but everyday
moments that are worth remembering.
For example, document your shared
experiences of working on these
activities with your child.
These happy and precious memories
can always be revisited and it also
reminds children that they are
constantly being loved and valued.

Parents have to think about a lot of
things when they spilt up, such as
where will you live and when can they
see you.
Changes may be difficult, but most
children find that things do get better

You might feel a little lost and
confused when your parents are
splitting up. It is good to talk to
somebody about it. For example,
your parent, teacher or anyone that
you are comfortable with.
Do they still
love me?
Which is my
home?
There are many reasons
why some parents split
up, and often it is
because one or both of
them are unhappy.
