Authors Note

Authors Note: The purpose of this book being written is

to educate youngsters on the great heroes of the

Reconstruction Era. Many biographical books have been written on the same people like Harriet Tubman,
Frederick Douglass, W.E.B DuBois, etc. But, Im adding a new face to that list, and that face is Sitting Bull.
Sitting Bull was a fierce warrior who cared about lots of things like his people, and his land. He was the most
powerful, rich and wise Native American of his time. He was born in 1831 in Grand River, which is now South
Dakota. He was brave because he wasnt scared of anyone, or anything. He wasnt afraid to get hurt over the
things he cared about. He was committed because he didnt give up until he got what he wanted. This story is
about never giving up and to keep on going even if you think youll get nowhere. Im an 8th Grade student, and
I chose to tell the story on Sitting Bull exhibiting his bravery, and his determination after all the battles and
adversity he went through, like when the White people killed off all the bison (which was their food source), and
when the Whites wouldnt leave his land.
