TutorialMotorControlCenters(MCCs)

ThistutorialprovidesabriefdescriptionofEasyPowermotorcontrolcenters(MCCs).

CreatinganMCC
1.OpenanewonelinebyclickingFile>New>NewOneline.
Tip:IfyouareviewingtheStartPage,youcanclickNewtoopenablankoneline.
2.Click

Maximizeontheonelinewindow,ifneeded,toillthesessionwindowwiththeoneline.

3.IntheEquipmentPalette,select
placetheMCC.

notMetric.
2.IntheConnectionInformationarea,notetheredexclamationmarknexttotheBasekVbox,indicatingitis
required.Type0.48intothebox.
3.ClicktheDescriptiontab.IntheMCCSpreadsheetCreationWizarddialogbox,select2asthenumberofrowsyou
wanttocreate,andthenclickOK.

Note:YoucanresizetheMCCDatadialogboxbydraggingitsedges.Youcanalsomaximizethedialogboxon
yourscreenbyclickingthe

Maximizebutton.

3.EnterdataintheMCCspreadsheetjustlikeyouwouldinaspreadsheetsuchasExcel.Thedataisvalidatedasyou
enterit.
TheMCCspreadsheettoolbarincludesadditionaloptionswhenyouviewtheDescriptiontab(seebelow).Youmust
clicksomewhereinthespreadsheettomakethetoolbarbuttonsavailable.

Thespreadsheethasitsownscrollbarstouseformovingaround.Youcanalsousethetabsatthebottomofthe
spreadsheet(shownbelow)tomovetodifferentsectionsofthespreadsheet.

EachMCCmotormusthaveamotorhorsepowerfortheMCCtobevalidatedforanalysisstudy.
5.UnderMotorSpeciications,maketheirstmotora75Hpmotorbyentering75intotheirstrowoftheMotorHp
column.Thenclickonadifferentcellsothechangeisstored.
TheMotorHpcellisnolongerred,indicatingitnowhasvaliddataentered.Also,theMotorkWandMotorkVAR
ieldsareautomaticallycalculatedbasedontheMotorHp,MotorPF(powerfactor),andMotorEffcolumns.The
motorkWandkVARcellscannotbemanuallyedited.
Allcellsthatcanbecalculatedareindicatedbyboldcolumnheadings.NoticeintheimagebelowthattheMotorX/R
columnheaderisbold.

8.Enter30kWand10kVARintheStaticLoadsectionofthespreadsheet.
SinceMCCanalysiscalculationsdonotrequireProtectiveDevice/StarterorConductordatatobeenteredfor
motorandloadtypes,youdonotneedtodoanythingwiththemnow.
UnderDescription,youwillnoticeaLibraryLoadcolumn.ThisisforadvancedMCCspreadsheetuserswhowantto
entertypicalMCCcircuitsintheirusereditabledevicelibrary.AfterpredeiningalibraryloadinStdlib.mdb(the
devicelibrary),selectingthatlibraryloadintheMCCspreadsheetautomaticallyillsintherestofthecellsforthat
row.

9.SelecttheSummarytaboftheMCCDatadialogbox.GeneralinformationcalculatedfromtheMCCspreadsheetdata
isdisplayedhere.

ThevaluesintheShortCircuittabarenecessaryfortheshortcircuitimpedancecalculationsofthemotorsinthe
spreadsheet.YoucaneithercalculatetheX/RAvgormanuallyenteranamount.
12.SelectthePowerFlowtab.
TheConnectedkVAisthevectorsumofalltheconnectedmotorandloadKVAs.Youhavetheoptionofusing
Demand,CodeFactors,orDesignkVAvaluesaswell.
13.ClickOKtoclosetheMCCDatadialogbox.

MCCsinAnalysis
IfyouareanadvancedEasyPoweruser,youcanconnecttheMCCtoabusthroughacable,connectthebustoautilityand
haveEasyPowerperformshortcircuit,powerlowcalculationsonthissmallsystem.
