professionally?)
I need to work on developing my classroom management skills.
Learning Outcomes:
Materials
(Link to the ADEC K-5 curriculum
document)
Students will be able to manipulate,
identify and sort familiar 2D shapes
in exploration and play and recognize
them in everyday contexts.

each student)
A4 sized shapes(circle, triangle, square,
rectangle)
Whiteboard markers

Lesson Introduction
Whole group activity: Time 15
minutes
Question (Blooms Taxonomy)
Opening/Introduction: (Bullet
points)
I will show the students the shapes,
and I will ask them to identify their
Remembering (low level):
What will you do in order to introduce
the concept to the students?
Show the students the shapes (circle,
triangle, square, and rectangle) and
ask them each time about the name
of the shape?
Active Engagement: (Bullet
points)
After youve modeled the concept,
what activity will you have the
students perform while on the carpet
to ensure that they understand it?
We are going to search around us
in the classroom for objects that
have the shapes we need.
names.
Understanding (low level):
I will retell the names of the shapes
for the students, and I will mention
the number of sides of the shape.
Applying (low level):
I am going to show the students some
pictures, and they are going to
identify some shapes that are in the
picture
Analyzing (high level):
We are going to search for objects
around us in the classroom, and we
will identify what they are.
Evaluating (high level):
We are going to sing the hokey pokey
song but instead of having an arm or a
leg we will have a certain shape. I will
mention the name of the shape at the
beginning and then we are going to sing
the song with the students, and we are
going to make the moves.
I am going to model the activity for the
students and then we are going to do it
all together.
Creating (high level):
In the centers, students will be
creating shapes using craft sticks.

Small Group Learning Centers: Time 10
Learning Center 1: (High)
Learning Center 2: (Medium)
Students will have craft sticks and
cards
The cards will have a picture of the
shape at the top and three different
pictures at the bottom of different
objects; the student needs to put the
clip on the object that looks like the
shape at the top.
The cards will have the name of the
shape, a picture of the shape, the
number of the sticks needed.
Students need to try to create the
shape using the number of sticks on
the paper and create the shape that
is mentioned on the card they took.
Learning Center 3: (Low)
Students will have different pieces of
the puzzle, and they need to put
things together to see a shape.
Closing activity: Time: 5 minutes
Allow children time to discuss how what they did during their
learning centers and how it relates to the lesson outcome
Remember that. We have learned four 2D shapes today, what are
they?
How many sides do these shapes have?
Assessment for Learning: How will you determine if the students
understood the learning outcome? What evidence will you show to
prove this?
When students are in the centers, I will assess their learning if they were
able to create the shapes and recognize them.
