About Maryland Aquatic Nurseries (M. A. N.)

Since it's inception in 1986, Maryland Aquatic Nurseries (M-A-N) has grown to be recognized as a leader in the expanding aquatics marketplace. Located 15 miles north of Baltimore, M-A-N is ideally situated to deliver potted plants and
hardgoods to all points in the mid-Atlantic region via our own trucks. We can also deliver potted plants and hardgoods
to more distant points, utilizing a proven common carrier method that gets everything to you in excellent condition.
Additionally, we're equipped to ship Light-Weight plants, Marginal Pod plants, Lily Pods and hardgoods nationwide.
In addition to being a plants nursery, M-A-N is an innovative designer and manufacturer of a wide range of indoor and
outdoor water gardening products. We also have in-house production facilities for our line of ornaments.
Shipping Season - Year round weather permitting.
Prices - Wholesale prices are available to retailers in the trade and landscapers. Distributor prices
are available under separate terms. Discounts are available for quantity orders. Possession of this
price list does not authorize everyone to receive wholesale prices.
Ordering - All orders are charged actual freight or UPS charges plus a $1.00 to $4.00 per box fee.
The minimum order is $100.00. Orders totalling less than $100.00 will be assessed a $5.00
handling fee.
Service - Orders are shipped within 7 days in most cases.
Shipper - UPS unless otherwise specified.
Special Shipping Regulations For Plant Material - Shipments to AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NV, OR, PR,
UT and WA require a state phytosanitary certificate - $25. Shipments out of the U.S.A. require
a Federal phytosanitary certificate ($42.00 to $77.00 depending on order total) plus special handling. Scheduling of a phytosanitary inspection may cause a minor delay. Please call for details.
Delivery - M-A-N truck delivery is available within 200 miles of the nursery for a fee. Freight
forwarder services are available for large plant orders beyond 200 miles. Please call for details.
Payment - Until a credit application is completed and credit is established, all orders are COD or
prepaid. Credit terms are net 30 days. Balances outstanding 30 days or more are subject to a
1.5% per month (18% annual) service charge. MasterCard and VISA are accepted.
Nursery Pick-Up - Products may be picked-up at the nursery during regular business hours. Please
call at least 24 hours in advance so that we can have your order ready. Plants picked-up at the
nursery are available bare root by prior arrangement only. Plant orders

The more tender varieties, often referred to as tropicals, are

hardy in Zones 8 through 11. For this reason these plants
are sometimes over looked in cooler climates which is unfortunate because many have striking foliage and blossoms that
will add a dramatic accent to any pond or water garden. In
areas colder than Zone 8, tropicals can be used as house
plants in the winter with adequate light and moist soil.

The Easiest Possible Way to Successfully Grow Submerged Aquatics

Reef plants soften the appearance of the
pond bottom while promoting a healthy
pond environment.
Oxygenators, or submerged aquatic
grasses, are fully rooted in fiber mat
material forming a reef like module that
is weighted with a ballast stone. In
gravel bottom ponds, reefs can be
anchored in gravel. In all ponds, reefs
settle to the bottom and plant roots
spread naturally amid the gravel and/or
sediment. Just drop them into the pond
- they're ready to grow!

The movement of water across the roots of plants in a Natural Filter encourages increased consumption of nutrients thereby reducing the amount of
nutrients available for pea soup algae to thrive. As the water enters the filter the pressure is greatly reduced allowing solids to settle out and collect on
the exposed roots of the plants thereby removing sediment from the pond. Additionally, the tremendous surface area created by the roots of the plants
provides a fertile area for beneficial bacteria growth providing biological filtration as well.
The Natural Filter area need only be 10% of the pond surface area. For best results, 1/4 - 1/2 of the pond's water volume should circulate through the
natural filter hourly. Yellow water iris, water mint, water celery and water hyacinth have proven to be highly effective plants for use in natural filters.

Our Biological Filters (Bio-Filters) are the essence of simplicity. As pond water enters the bottom of the filter housing (Section C) the water slows
considerably allowing suspended solids to settle out into the base of the filter. The water then flows upward through the filter media (Section B).
Bacteria living on the media convert toxic ammonia and nitrites to harmless nitrates. Plants in the top of the filter (Section A) are optional but
highly recommended because they will consume nitrates and other nutrients that cause pea-soup algae. The water is aerated as it returns to the
pond from the top of the filter. Installation is simple and requires virtually no plumbing. Complete filters include fittings and media support

The Mega Tub is made of durable virgin polyethylene and is built to last. Use it for temporary holding of fish, or when properly equipped, for selling goldfish and Koi.
Weve equipped it to serve as a sump tub for waterfall-stream gardens. As a Waterfall
Sump Tub, it has a grate for supporting gravel and landscape stone; a PVC pipe framework for supporting the grate; a stainless steel and polyethylene pump cage for clog free
pump operation; and a 1.5 flex PVC tubing system that exits the tub via a bulkhead to
conceal the tubing in the gravel and stone covering the tub. The pump is accessible from
above the grate via a decorative StoneCast cement cap that fits neatly over the pump
cage. The Sump Tub saves installation labor and materials over other sump systems that

The Stonehead is so named because it can be stacked with stone inside near its top (or head) with landscape stone, thus concealing it totally in the waterfall. It includes a bolt-on aluminum angle for attaching
the liner firmly in place beneath the weir. The body of the Stonehead holds a 1 cubic bag of No-Clog PVC
