Grade 2 Arts Lesson Plan

Learning Objective:
Students will be able to use dots, lines and shapes in drawing and sketching.
Differentiated Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the lesson 95% of the students can distinguish visually lines and shapes on a
particular artwork.
By the end of the lesson 75% of the students can draw different lines (horizontal, vertical,
diagonal, wavy, zigzag and curly) and shapes (geometric and organic).
By the end of the lesson 50% of the students can sketch an artwork with the use of the basic
elements of art learned from the lesson.

Application to the Real Life Experience:


The students can apply this lesson in their daily lives like identifying lines and shapes in every place
they go; they would know what are the lines and shapes used/designed by the artist.

Introduction:
Start the class with viewing of the different artworks like painting or pictures of architectures and
others landscape and portrait arts. Then let them express their thoughts and emotions on the artworks;
ask them to share what are the elements used which are very observable on the artworks shown.

Main Learning Activities:

1. After the sharing of ideas on the artworks, introduce the three basic elements of the art
(dot, lines- horizontal, vertical, diagonal, wavy, zigzag and curly lines; and shapesgeometric and organic shapes.)
2. Group art challenge; an art activity (Ask them to work as a group drawing a subject by
using a shapes on a cartolina.
3. Each group should have a representative to create and artwork on the board as the
teacher judge after whoever has the best drawing.
4. The group with greatest points will win.

Plenary:
Students individual artwork-drawing and coloring will be done on the next session.

Homework:
Memorize and practice the Fruit and Vegetables for the Presentation.
