Simple Traceability Matrix Template

This simple traceability matrix tracks the relationship between 10 requirements and 10 test cases, showing which test cases are associated with and help validate each requirement through the use of X's. It can be used to determine how many test cases may be affected if a requirement changes, the coverage of requirements by the test cases, and whether any requirements have an overly complex number of test cases.

This example of a Traceability Matrix shows the relationship between Requirements and Test Cases
With this data we can ask such question as:
How many Test Cases may be affected by a change of the requirement
How much coverage of the requirements has been achieved?
Are any requirements overly complex and needing too many Test Cases?

To use:
1) Change the Req ID to the ID of your requirement
2) Change the Test Case ID to one that matches your own
3) Enter an 'x' into each square where your test case tests out a specific requirement
