RESPONSIBILITIES
I capitalize proper nouns like the names of people, buildings, countries, etc.
I capitalize the pronoun I.
I capitalize the first word in every sentence.
My handwriting is neat and without smudges, or my paper is typed and clean.
I use an indentation (empty space) at the beginning of the first line of each
paragraph.
My sentences begin in different ways.
My sentences are complete (each sentence has a subject and a verb).
My writing is cohesive, concise and makes sense.
I use brainstorming, mind map, or outline or any other pre-writing technique to
create and organize my ideas.
The main idea of my writing is clearly stated.
I added details, examples, facts, and other information that support my main idea.
My writing is organized and logical with evidence that supports my main idea.
My writing has a beginning/introduction, middle/body, and end/conclusion.
My introduction is exciting and inviting.
My conclusion is satisfying and leaves no loose ends.
I have revised and edited my writing using suggestions from the teacher or peer
writers.
I use the appropriate end punctuation (a period, an exclamation mark, or a question
mark) at the end of each sentence.
I use quotation marks, parenthesis, and other punctuation marks correctly.
I use commas properly.
I use new and varied vocabulary words and other reference materials, such as a
dictionary, to make sure my spelling is correct.
