Summary
INTRODUCTION
Government of Punjab is very keen to improve the living standards of Southern Punjab. This
project is also play a vital role in the extent to promote the traditional Crafts specially to
empower female entrepreneurs through skill development in numerous arts & crafts pertaining to
the cultural heritage of the area sale points and trainings which held to support dying craft in
southern Punjab. Training with the collaboration with other department is started just to make
sure the support of the rightful deserving female artisans.
Especially extending Mirco Credit facility for purchase of Tools/Machinery & Working Capital
enabling poor to stand on their feet supporting their selves to generate income. The project is also
help in generating new jobs and poverty alleviation.
It is worth mentioning here that rich local heritage needs up lifting as per need of the time but
unfortunately in the past it has never been exploited to the visible status. It is the prime need that
such projects be initiated / set up to cope with the changing requirements and to prepare the local
female artisans to equip themselves towards self-employment and income generation which
counts towards the overall uplifting of the economy of the region and country as well.
In fact embroidery is the predominant craft of cottage industry that is widely practiced craft in
Cholistan and Bahawalnagar District. Now after getting statistics it is noted that this craft is
dying due to machine work and government is taking initiative to promote this craft, which can
help in generating revenue in near future by strengthen local Artisans.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Objectives of the Project as per Approved PC I as per 2st revision

Provision of Credit assistance to artisans
Provision of Training at clusters.
Provision of Marketing Access according to principles of Fairs Trade through PSIC
Handicrafts Shops all over Punjab to increase the sale on better price.
Arrangement of Competitions between the Artisans of local Crafts (in view of direction
given by Govt. of the Punjab, vide PS/PSCM(CMS)-(D)-12/OT-4/ Chief Minister
Secretariat Punjab.
Provision of new designs.
Value addition in the traditional crafts.
Establishment of Display and Sale Point at Rahim Yar Khan.
Develop Catalogue of products for the marketing of cluster.
The products produced during training will be sold out through local committee
constituted by the Project Incharge.
Provision of Markup Free Loan to the artisans and on priority to passed-out trainees for
self-employment.
Participations in fairs & exhibition through TDAP, TDCP, PBIT, DFID, and other public
and international agencies to explore new markets.
Advisory services to local Artisans and Cholistani Female Folk.
To collaborate with NGOs having similar objectives to benefit the artisans.

It has been suggested by the project Incharge that with the collaboration of social welfare

Collection of data by survey format given by head office PSIC
Distribution of marketing and promotion material in cluster to make sure every woman to
acknowledge about the loaning and training scheme under Punjab Small Industries.

Processing Fee @ 3% of the loan amount. The said amount

would be covered for provision of bad debts, which would
be created and reflected in books of accounts accordingly.
One surety of government employee.
In case of shortage of two installments PSIC is
authorize to write a letter to Borrower and Guarantor
for the payment of due amount.
If the borrower fails to deposit 3 installments would
be declared as defaulter.
In case of default both Borrower and Guarantor will
be equally responsible.
3 years i.e. 42 monthly equal installments including of 2months grace period.
If a loan applicant fails to complete required formalities
with respect to execution of legal documents within one

These clusters are identified by the Mobilizes (EAB&C)
DAS GAJYANI
Poverty rate is high.

There are not basic Facilities available in the village like electricity, clean water,
sewerage system & Sui gas.
People are not educated due school located far away from village
Training session has been arranged in the months of April & May, 2015.
Awareness has been given by the mobilisers about Loaning scheme under Punjab
Small Industries Corporation.
Artisan have given certificates & stipends
