Robot Operating System (ROS) is a collection of software frameworks for robot software
development, (see also Robotics middleware) providing operating system-like functionality on a
heterogeneous computer cluster. ROS provides standard operating system services such as
hardware abstraction, low-level device control, implementation of commonly used functionality,
message-passing between processes, and package management. Running sets of ROS-based
processes are represented in a grapharchitecture where processing takes place in nodes that may
receive, post and multiplex sensor, control, state, planning, actuator and other messages. Despite
the importance of reactivity and low latency in robot control, ROS, itself, is not a Realtime OS,
though it is possible to integrate ROS with realtime code. [2]

Examples of pervasive computing
1. Google glass
Google Glass is a type of wearable technology with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD). It
was developed by Google[9]with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer.
[1]
Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format.[10] Wearers
communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands.[11][12] Google started selling
Google Glass to qualified "Glass Explorers" in the US on April 15, 2013 for a limited period for
$1,500, before it became available to the public on May 15, 2014
[13]
for the same price.
Google provides four prescription frame choices for $225.00 U.S and free with the purchase of any
new Glass unit. It is necessary to remove a small screw in order to move the Google Glass from one
frame to another. Google entered in a partnership with the Italian eyewear company Luxottica,
owners of the Ray-Ban, Oakley, and other brands, to offer additional frame designs.[14]

2. LG G WATCH
The LG G Watch is an Android Wear-based smartwatch announced and released
by LG and Google on June 25, 2014. It was released along with the Samsung Gear Live as launch
devices for Android Wear, a modified version of Android designed specifically for smartwatches and
other wearables.[1] It is compatible with all smartphones running Android 4.3 or higher that
supports Bluetooth Smart.
