320t Ac Drive System

GE produces a 320-ton AC drive system for heavy haul trucks used in oil sands applications. The system can power a truck with a gross weight of over 1 million pounds, carry up to 640,000 pound payloads, and produce up to 3,500 horsepower using large alternator and motorized wheel components controlled by an AC control group and dynamic retarding assembly. The system is capable of continuous motoring up to a 12% grade at high altitudes and ambient temperatures.
