Top Tips for Securing Spring Weeks
-
Attend all relevant WBF events to set you apart from other
applicants
Be on the ball from mid-Oct; get your spring week applications in
early. Cant be emphasised enough!
Speak to WFS Exec and people in the years above who have been
through the spring week application process
Read the front, back and Lex pages of the FT to start getting
into the markets and what's going on in the world
- Make sure to look at the markets numbers on the front
page to get an idea of what price level everything lies at
Attend Sponsors events and connect with HR and business reps
- Ask them for their business card and follow up
Make sure your CV is concise; 1 page only. Come along to
CV/Cover Letter Clinic if you would like individual advice
Take part in student societies that interest you; extra-curricular
activities are becoming an increasingly important differentiator
Do NOT copy and paste the same cover letter for all the banks
you are applying to
Get comments on your CV/cover letter from friends/family/WBF
before you submit
Have an opinion on whats going on in the economy and financial
services industry in general; read WFS M&A Deal Digest
Make multiple applications in order to ensure you have the best
chance of securing a spring week
Ensure you are thoroughly prepared for interviews; refer to the
WFS Experiences Portal
