This short story is about Adina, a law student, and Robert, a lawyer from a decade earlier, who fall in love through letters left in a wooden box. Adina finds Robert's old letters from her internship house and they begin corresponding daily, discussing their lives and developing feelings for each other. However, their love is constrained by the fact that Robert lives in the past and they can never meet. While Adina becomes discouraged, Robert continues professing his love until saying goodbye on Valentine's Day. The story suggests they may have been soulmates, as Adina's professor is also named Robert.

Book Review: Adina
Adina is a short story about love between two people living in a world of different dimension - a story of love that would eventually fail because of the constraints of time, distance and circumstances. Adina, a law student in present while Robert, a new lawyer in the past, about a decade ago from Adina's present time. Two people who started communicating through a letter written by Robert followed by an answer from Adina and the process started that way. They keep in touch with each other from then on. The topics revolved around politics, economy, life, and eventually, love. Until that certain time that love came along the two of them without the assurance of being together or even meeting each other along. Why? Merely because Adina lives in the present while Robert, lives in the past. And I guess that explains why both of them will never get a chance to meet each other, ever. Robert had stayed in the same house (like ten years ago) where Adina is presently staying for her internship as her requirement in Law School. She stayed there with two other classmates. She ought to stay there for three months so she was actually making herself comfortable with the place by familiarizing herself with the new environment she was in. There was one time when she was looking around the house where she found a small wooden box along with old pictures. She got curious about something that may be hidden inside the box so she opened it and found an envelope, seemingly an old one because of its yellowish color. As she was about to open the letter, she felt nervous that someone might catch her, she looked around her and realized that shes alone all along. As she opened the letter, she got curious because the letter was addressed to a lady and somehow, she assumed that maybe it was meant for her since she thought she was the one who first read it. The name of the writer was Robert. She read the letter and thought that it was one of the occupants of the house who has secret admiration for her. She was kind of confused if she would write back but because Katrina, her friend, pushed her to write back, she did. And so they (Adina and Robert) did communicate each and every single day, they write a letter and put it inside the wooden box. Days went by and their conversation revolved around different topics such as politics, economy, law school, life and eventually about love. Robert was the first one to open up to Adina about the possibility of love between them. But how? Though they were in that one same house but... with different time, how could be possible? However, Adina did not confine herself that there was no chance at all. She responded to Roberts love through her letters. But there was a time when Adina got discouraged of entertaining Robert anymore with the thought of the fact that they are separated by time. But that did not stop Robert from expressing his love for Adina. Until Valentines Day came, Robert finally said goodbye. The love story ended in the present time when Adina met his professor whose name is also Robert. They both think that maybe they were the same people who used to fall in love with each other through letters in that small wooden box.
