Rate Routing
1. Overview of Master Data
Routing
Routings enables to plan the production of materials (products). Therefore,
routings are used as a template for production orders, capacity planning,
scheduling the production orders, quality checks as well as a basis for product
costing. Routings are used in discrete manufacturing environment.
Rate Routing
A routing for whose operations the production quantity and a fixed duration
has been defined. Thus the production rate is also defined. Rate routings are
used when you plan on a quantity basis, for example in repetitive
manufacturing.
Reference Operation Set/Reference Rate Routing
In case of common assemblies and Final assembly, Reference operation set/
Reference Rate routing can be used:
Discrete Mfg Environment
Routing will be used as task list in production
Repetitive Mfg Environment
Rate Routing will be used as task list in production
El Araby manufacturing plants run on both, discrete as well as repetitive
manufacturing environment as listed below with routing procedures being
followed:

Repetitive

2. Requirements / Expectations
Routing/Rate Routing
Should be able to assign work center/s or production line/s
Should able to define list of operations in the routing as long text
Should be able to define planned values for machine hours, set up
time, and other activity types for calculating capacity, scheduling and
cost
Should able to maintain Quality related data per operation
Should be able to define parallel and alternate sequence of operations
Should be able to assign components to the operations where ever
required
Should be able to maintain per operation quantity and ratios
Should be able to define alternate UoMs for each of the operations
Should be able to maintain PRT related data per operations
Should have the option to include/exclude an operation/work
center/production line from scheduling, capacity, costing or
confirmation
Should be able to define an operation as intend for internal or external
operation
Should have option of assigning any additional user defined fields for
any operation
Should be able to print the routing

Should be able to define routing for rework/reprocessing on
products/sub assemblies
3. Naming/numbering conventions
Routing/Rate Routing Internal number range or XXXXXXXX
(alphanumeric) for some group of products or similar set of work
centers/production lines is possible

9. Changes to Existing Organisation
10.
Centralize master data creation to avoid duplication and uniform
among the plants.
Key Business Improvement
Centralize master data creation to avoid duplication and uniform
among the plants
Data is stored in a well organized fashion. There are different data
views pertinent to different areas of business like header level and item
level information etc.
Accesses to different departments to the master data can be controlled.
