Denture Rebasing
The process of refitting a denture by replacing the denture base material without changing the
occlusal relations of the teeth. Rebasing may include adding to the denture base to compensate
for resorptive changes to subjacent structures.
REBASING/RELINING/SOFT LINER
Rebasing is usually done when the denture teeth have not worn out in comparison to the denture
base material. It is a process of retrofitting dentures by replacing the entire acrylic denture base
with new acrylic, which provides a stable denture without replacing the denture teeth.
Relining consists of adding a new layer of acrylic to the tissue side and existing base of a denture
so that its fit is improved.
Rebasing/Relining affects and improves only the fit and will not alter a dentures original
appearance nor will it improve or correct a poor bite.
