Christiane Perme, PT CCS

Speaker Biography
Christiane Perme, PT CCS is a 1981
graduate from the Catholic University in
Brazil where she received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Physical Therapy. n
2005, she became a Board Certified
Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Clinical
Specialist by the American Physical
Therapy Association.
Mrs. Perme is currently a Senior Physical
Therapist at the Methodist Hospital in
Houston, where she has practiced for the
past 26 years with a variety of complex
acute care patients. She is also staff
lecturer for Motivations, nc. and Education
Resources, nc. Mrs. Perme has published
seven articles and is co-author in nine
book chapters.
Mrs. Perme has extensive experience in
treating adult patients in ntensive Care
Unit with special interest in patients
requiring mechanical ventilation. She is an
experienced speaker nationally and
internationally, including Brazil (2010,
2012), Africa, and at the World Physical
Therapy Congress in Spain (2003),
Canada (2007), and in Netherlands
(2011).
Day One Schedule
Intended Audience
Format and Instruction
This course is presented in a lecture,
discussion and lab format. Please wear
clothing appropriate for hands on lab.
Past history has taught us, no room
temperature will be acceptable to all.
Course participants are encouraged to
dress comfortably in removable layers
for personal temperature control.
Day Two Schedule Course Objectives
This course is primarily for PTs, OTs,
PTAs and COTAs .This Course meets
criteria for 14.5 contact hours.
DAY 1 - FUNDAMENTALS OF ICU
CARE

7:30 - 8:00: REGISTRATION
8:00 - 8:45: ntroduction to Rehab in
CU
8:45 - 9:15: Rehab in CU- Evidence
Based Practice
9:15 - 09:45: Complications Secondary
to Primary Diagnosis in CU

9:45 - 10:00: BREAK

10:00 - 12:00: Lines/Tubes Dealing
with Monitoring and CU Equipment

12:00- 01:00: LUNCH

1:00 2:00: Lines/Tubes Dealing
with Monitoring and CU Equipment

Thoughts/Discussion

Upon completion of this course,
participants will be able to:
dentify and state function of basic
equipment, lines, and tubes used in the
CU
dentify different modes of ventilation
and ventilator settings
dentify patients who would benefit
from early mobility and rehab in CU
using clinical decision-making skills
Discuss the importance and demon-
strate the ability to write function

clinical and academic practice
