Thermic lance
SECTION FOUR – GAS

A Thermic Lance is a steel pipe packed with mixed metal wires. The Thermic Lance
is a great cutting/gouging/piercing tool for any application. Once set-up with a Safety
Lance Handle at one end, you apply a heating source to the opposite end, such as
an oxy-acetylene or oxy-LPG torch or a Lance Igniter and allow oxygen to be passed
through the centre of the lance via the handle. The Thermic Lance will ignite into a
large sparkler reaction, with a fierce combusting zone of approx. 4000°C.
Some common applications of Thermic & Mini Thermic Lances are:
• The cutting up of Large Metal Castings or Frozen masses of metals (spills)
• De-slagging of Furnace outlets and maintenance
• The removal of stubborn plugs and pins out of Heavy Machinery
• The removal of Hardfacing material, to replace worn parts
• For removal of large metal beams/structures in Demolition
• Cutting down large metal objects for Scrap purposes
