CV GUIDELINES – SUMMERS 2005
I.General
• This is the standard template for the CVs and is to not to be
altered. In case certain sections are inapplicable they can be
deleted if so indicated in the guidelines.
• Do not alter the main headings of the CV
• Font - Times New Roman
Font size = 11 unless otherwise stated.
Line Spacing = 1.0
• Do not indicate any details such as personal address, email id on
the CV.
• Follow the reverse chronological sequence throughout the
various sections in the CV.
• Sections on Work Experience, Professional Achievements, Extra-
Curricular achievements are optional and may be excluded if they
aren’t applicable to you.
• Add rows to the Education, Work experience tables, if necessary.
• Revert to the sample CV in case you need some
clarification for the guidelines.
II.Name
• Write your name as indicated in the sample CV’s
• The first alphabet in your first name, surname should be in upper
case. All other alphabets in lower case. Font size = 22.
III.Education
• Indicate your degree and branch, if applicable.

• The total CGPA scale should also be indicated. (Refer to the
sample CV.)
• The city of your school & college should be indicated.
• Example: St. Xavier's College, Bangalore, Karnataka Board
You may use abbreviations.
• Specify the boards for class 10 and 12. For example, Mah. State
Board for Maharashtra State Board.
• Mention the CGPA as CGPA Obtained/ Max CGPA (7.6/10) and include the
percentage sign while writing the percentages (76.8%)
• Average CGPA or percentage for all subjects in all semesters/terms/years to be
computed and written and not best 5 or best 6.
• For people having passed out of colleges affiliated to some
university, indicate the name of the college and the university
both. For example, D.J. Sanghvi CoE, Mumbai University.
IV.Work experience
• The location of your company to be included along with the
company’s name.
• Only pay-slip work experience should be included as submitted to
the PGP office at the time of registration.
• Summer trainings / apprenticeships (CAs) can be included as work
experience in the CV
For the following sections keep referring to the sample CV for
the format of writing your achievements.

• All achievements such as scholarships/recognitions won, technical
papers written or awards won at the work place to be indicated
here.
• Achievements to be indicated institute-wise in reverse
chronological order. Indicate the year (month, if you wish to do
so) of the achievement wherever possible.
• Strictly follow bullet patterns to indicate all achievements.
VI.Extra-curricular activities
• Activities such as quizzes, debates, dramatics, competitions,
leadership positions, club/committee/social memberships to be
indicated in this section.
• Achievements to be indicated institute-wise in reverse
chronological order. Indicate the year (month, if you wish to do
so) of the achievement wherever possible.
• Strictly follow bullet patterns to indicate all achievements.

Include any other information you feel could be relevant at the
