Call for Innovations and Best Practices:
Submit a Poster to ACNL’s 2010 Annual Conference
The Association of California Nurse Leaders Annual Program Committee invites you to
showcase your work at the 2010 ACNL Conference, Nurse Leadership: A Whole New World,
February 7-10, at the Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, by submitting an
abstract for a poster presentation to be displayed during this exciting Conference. From
among the abstracts we receive, the review panel will invite the authors of exceptional abstracts
to share their important work during round table discussion sessions on Monday and Tuesday
mornings.
We hope you will consider creating a poster that captures best practices and innovations in your
nursing department or facility.
Beginning on the next page is the Abstract Submission document which must be completed by
October 6, 2009 for consideration at the 2010 Conference. Those submitting posters will be
notified by November 5, 2009.
Conference Highlights
The 2010 ACNL Annual Conference features:
• Nationally recognized presenters, discussing hot topics in nurse leadership and health
care today
• Separate breakout sessions for nurse leaders in service, academia and emerging nurse
leaders
• Vendors displaying and discussing a wide range of equipment, products and services
• Best practices and take-aways that you can implement in your departments and facilities
• A Mentor Program for first time attendees and/or those traveling alone to help maximize
the Conference experience
• Opportunities for networking with nurse leaders throughout the state

We expect the 2010 ACNL Conference to dazzle our audience. Your poster presentation will be
a valuable addition to the Conference! We hope you will begin now to plan your poster, create
your abstract summarizing your poster―and join us in February!

Share your best practices and innovations with your colleagues at ACNL’s
2010 Annual Conference through a poster presentation. Authors of
exceptional best practices/innovations will be invited to share their work
during round table discussion sessions.

Abstract Submission
Topics for presentations should focus on best practices/innovations in nurse
leadership, patient care, quality initiatives and other topics related to nursing
practice.
Guidelines for Abstracts
1. Descriptive title
2. Purpose and/or objectives of the project
3. Background and significance, including an overview of the type of
clinical units for the project
4. Description of methods or procedures or practice changes
5. Evidence of results or outcomes of the project and how you measured
the results – show us the data!
6. Conclusion or description of the impact of the project on patient care
quality, costs or outcomes
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
• Abstracts should be a maximum of 500 words
• Use 12 point font, single-spaced with 1 inch margins
• Capitalize Title
• Summit electronically via a WORD file
• Do not place names on abstract page
• Abstract Submission form must be complete (a copy of form included
with the packet)
*The abstract packet must include the following:
- One (1) copy of the abstract
- One (1) copy of the Submission form
- One (1) copy of primary presenter’s CV
*E-mail completed packet to: Cathy Novaresi at cathy@acnl.org
*Completed packets must be received by October 6, 2009.

SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
Our goal is to welcome as many abstracts as space will permit. We want to hear from YOU!
Confirmation of acceptance for a poster presentation will be by e-mail not
later than November 5, 2009. We will post the abstract for your poster
presentation on the conference website.
REGISTRATION FEES
Poster presenters must register for the conference.
