Thin-film composite nanofiltration (TFC-NF)
OnenewtypeofNFmembranes,thethinfilmcompositenanofiltration (TFCNF)membraneisthemost widelyusedfortheremovalofdyesandsalts. TheperformancesofthiscommercialNFmembraneshasbeenextensivelyexaminedintermsofdye rejection,saltrejection,permeatefluxandCODrejection. Mostoftheconventionaltechnologiesseemunabletoprovidesufficienttreatmentfortheeffluents. Therefore,thisTFCNFmembranesoffersolutionsforthisproblem.
Removal of Dyes and Salts by NF
Someofthecommercialmembranesshowedmaximumseparationofdyeandsaltswhilesome achievedhigherflux. ThisisbecauseofthelargevariabilityamongsttheparametersoftextilewastewaterandtheNF membraneschosen. Thetransportmodelthatisspecificallysuitablefortextilecolouredwastewaterwiththepresenceofthe dyesandsaltscanbesuccessfullydone. Membranefoulingmechanismsandmethodstocontrolfoulingcanalsobeachieved
