15th SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST Tone 6. Glorification of St. Innocent, Metropolitan of Moscow, Enlightener of the Aleuts, and Apostle to the Americas (1977Sept 23rd O.S.). Holy and Glorious Apostle Thomas (1st c.). Monk Martyr Macarius of St. Anne Skete (Mt. Athos1590). Icon of the Most-holy Theotokos O ALL-HYMNED MOTHER.
2 Corinthians 4:6-15 (Epistle)
6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you. 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, I believed and therefore I spoke, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God
Luke 7:11-16 (Gospel)
11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, Do not weep.
14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise. 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. 16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, A great prophet has risen up among us; and, God has visited His people.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & EVENTS On Saturday, 21 September, approximately 70 people gathered at a construction site located on Cherry Hill Road in Princeton NJ for OPERATION PRINCETON to help establish a new place of worship for the Mother of God, Joy of All Who Sorrow Orthodox Christian community. The day was beautiful, the sun shined and the air was filled with the voices of people sharing, laughing, and conversing about their common work effort. The task was simple, the work a great effort! Young and old worked together to separate stone and soil from a large mound resulting from the digging of the foundation for the new temple. Volunteers for the work weekend projects are being sought from across the diocese -- contact the Rector, Very Reverend John Cassar at 609-306-4168. Dont forget to get your tickets for the Pig Roast. Prices go up on October 13th! We are hoping for a sell-out for this popular event! Sunday, Nov 3rd : NSS Chinese Auction & Bake Sale - The Sisterhood will sponsor its annual Chinese Auction and Lunch on November 3rd. The event first began in 1998 when ROCWMAS (Russian Orthodox Catholic Women's Mutual Aid Society) became NSS (National Slovak Society ). NSS matches funds for a fund raiser that benefits a charitable organization up to $400.00. NSS has contributed up to $400 every year since 1998 in matching funds when our church raises $400. Beginning in 2012, we now are able to conduct 2 matching fund drives each year - one for adult status and the other for the youth membership status. In 2012 we started our "2-4-1 " drawing/luncheon. NSS matched it with $400 making, the total of $800.00. We are grateful to have had this opportunity and will continue to do so. Please help make this auction a success. The Sisterhood is starting now to collect donations for the auction. This is always a fun event. Mark your calendars. You can help by making a donation and by bringing a friend!
