Research Methodology Training in Architecture

Research is a structured enquiry that utilizes acceptable scientific methodology to solve problems and create new knowledge that is generally applicable. Scientific methods consist of systematicobservation,classificationandinterpretationofdata. Althoughweengageinsuchaprocessinourdailylife,thedifferencebetweenourcasualdayto day generalisation and the conclusions usually recognized as scientific method lies in the degreeofformality,rigorousness,verifiabilityandgeneralvalidityoflatter. The practice includes philosophies, validity, reliability, unbiased reporting and objective. Courseobjectives:
Architecture and its allied fields are in a formative stage of research and the overall broader objectiveistoequiparchitectswithtoolsandtechniquesofresearch. This course focuses on contemporary concerns and issues associated with research in architecture,bothforarchitecturalpracticeandacademics. It is intended to provide architects with in depth knowledge of concept /methods for research in architecture and to assist in contextualizing their research in terms of existing knowledge, andvarietiesofresearchstrategies. The programme provides a platform for the devising, development and refinement of a rigorousresearchmethodology. Several related topics of relevance such as such as, pursuing doctoral research, the UGC norms for doctoral research etc. would also be discussed during the course of the programme so that

participants can carry out their PhD or Project research in a more meaningful manner and contributepositivelytotheprofessionatlarge.

Thisprogrammeisdesignedtoincludeasfollows:
