This unit has a built-in Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery. When the bars in the battery indicator (in the display) become low (see Figure 1) and especially when the bars turn red, recharge the battery as follows. 1. Connect the USB cable to the USB jack on the bottom of this unit and to the USB port on your computer (as shown);  OK to Remove will appear on the screen. When charging, the battery indicator will cycle from the current battery level to full. Once the battery is fully charged, the indicator will stop cycling.

NOTES: When you disconnect this unit from your computer, this unit will turn on and update the playlist automatically. It will take several seconds to several minutes to update the player's library depending on the number of files that you have transferred to the player. It takes approx. 6 hours to charge the battery from empty to full. When fully charged, the unit can playback for approx. 12 hours in Music Playback mode. (Actual playback times may vary.) For data transfer, please use the USB cable (included) to connect the unit to your computer.

Software Installation CD (PART NO. PA-E559) General Information

INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE

Windows will automatically detect the audio player without installing the CD software when the USB cable is connected.

System requirements for MyDJ Plug-in: Intel Pentium (700MHz or better recommended) 128MB RAM (recommended minimum) An active Internet connection

For Microsoft Windows XP: Use the CD to install the MyDJ Plug-In and Windows Media Player (10 or 11).

This unit is compatible with Windows XP (SP2) with Windows Media Player 10,or above.

Procedure to Install the MyDJ Plug-In: (for Windows Media Player 10; see requirements on the previous page): 1.

INSTALLING THE MyDJ PLUG-IN

Insert the installation CD-Rom into the CD Drive, then the installation screen will appear. If the installation screen doesn't automatically appear, double-click My Computer then double-click on the CD drive, then the installation screen will appear. Click Download & Install MyDJ Plug-in for Windows Media Player.

At the first pop-up screen, click Save to save wmp_plugin.msi onto your computer. Save in a convenient location, such as on your Desktop.

Double-click on the wmp_plugin icon on your Desktop (if saved there) and the Setup Wizard will appear. Click Next.

4. The Select Installation Folder screen will appear. It is recommended to keep the folder as is. Then click Next.

5. At the Confirm Installation screen, click Next to start the installation.

6. When successfully completed, the Installation Complete screen will appear. Click Close to exit the Setup Wizard. Please see page 21 for how to use the MyDJ Plug-In.

Once you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can transfer MP3 files, WMA files, WMA files with DRM 9 or 10 to your player using the Sync function. 1. You will be directed to the Windows Media Download Center. Select Download (Windows Media Player), Version (Player 10 [for Windows XP] and Language. Then, click Download Now. At the pop-up window, click Run to run MP10Setup.exe. Click Run again. Installation will begin. NOTE: Please install WMP10 or 11, otherwise the unit may not be detected by your computer. Read the License Agreement, then click I ACCEPT.

Once you have installed Windows Media Player 11, you can transfer MP3 files, WMA files, WMA files with DRM 9 or 10 and photos to your player using the Sync function. 1. Insert the installation CD-Rom into the CD Drive, then the installation screen will appear. If the installation screen doesn't automatically appear, double-click My Computer then double-click on the CD drive, then the installation screen will appear. Click Download Windows Media Player 10 or 11.

2. You will be directed to the Windows Media Download Center. Select Download (Windows Media Player), Version (Player 11 [for Windows XP]) and Language. Then, click Download Now. At the pop-up window, click Run to run wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe. Click Run again. Installation will begin. 3. A Validate Your Copy of Windows screen will appear. If desired, click on Microsoft Genuine Advantage Privacy Statement to read it. Click Validate.

4. Read the License Agreement, then click I Accept.

6. At the Welcome screen, it is recommended to select Express Settings and then click on Finish. The newly-installed Windows Media Player 11 will open. You may also see a popup window asking, A Windows Media Player update is available. Do you want to update now? Follow the on-screen prompts if you choose to update at this time. 15

For Windows XP, you can also utilize Windows Media Player 10 or 11 software to convert music on an audio CD into MP3 or WMA format as follows: 1. Open the Windows Media Player 10 or 11 Browser, then click on the Rip icon on the top tool bar. Insert a music CD into the CD-Rom drive of your computer. 2.

Click on the Tools menu option at the top menu bar, then click on Options; the Option setting menu will appear. Click on Rip Music and set the Rip Music to the desired location on your computer. Then, set the desired format for the newly ripped music (MP3 format or Windows Media Audio format). Adjust the audio quality as desired. When finished, click OK to confirm the settings. Click on the Rip Music icon to start ripping the music to your computer.

When the music tracks are ripped, you can transfer them to your player using Windows Media Player 10 as described on the next page.

TRANSFERRING MP3/WMA/VIDEO/PHOTO FILES AND WMA FILES WITH DRM 9 OR DRM 10 USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10 (FOR WINDOWS XP ONLY) To transfer MP3/WMA/VIDEO/PHOTO/WMA files with DRM 9 or 10 to the player, follow the procedure described below using WMP (Windows Media Player) 10. Before beginning the procedure, please connect the unit to the computer as previously described. 1. Open the Windows Media Player Browser 10 and click on Sync. 2. Click on the Sync List pull-down menu to locate the music files you wish to download. Then make sure to tick the box next to the files. 3. Select the Portable Device (Media Player) that you want to copy to from the right side drop-down menu. Click Start Sync to start transferring music files to the player. 4. After finished transferring all the desired files to your unit,  OK to Remove will appear on the screen. Then you can remove the player from the computer.

CREATING A PLAYLIST USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10 Follow the steps below to create a playlist in the Music menu, using WMP (Windows Media Player) 10:

1. Connect your player to the USB port on your computer as shown on page 7. Open WMP 10. 2. Go to the "Sync" page and click "Set Up Sync". There you can set up the specific synchronization for this unit. 3. Click "Synchronize Device Automatically" and select the playlist. For example, select "Music Added in the Last Month" and "Music Played the Most" and click "OK". WMP 10 will synchronize the selected playlist(s) to this unit automatically. 4. When the synchronization is finished, there will be a new playlist which you can find in the Music menu.

Press the green START to start the process to make your music MyDJ ready. You will now be able to see the progress of activating your music within the MyDJ Plug-In window. The windows can be closed/minimized with the close/minimize boxes at the top righthand corner. Once the activation of your music files is complete, an inactive "START" will appear.

The first time you start the MyDJ Plug-In, you will be asked if you wish to save analysis information in your music files. This means your tracks will be analyzed using the MyDJ Plug-In so they will work with the MyDJ feature on this unit.

The MyDJ Plug-In will open automatically when you start Windows Media Player 10 for the first time after installation. (If you dont have any songs in your WMP [Windows Media Player] library, you will first need to add some in order to use the MyDJ Plug-In.)

USING THE MyDJ PLUG-IN

Extended Analysis of Your Music By default, the MyDJ Plug-In will perform the fastest analysis of your music that it can. However, not all of the files within your collection may be recognized during this quick analysis process. In this case, you may want to use the Extended Analysis capability of the MyDJ Plug-In, which will ensure that all possible remaining files within your WMP library are ready to be used on this unit. To enable Extended Analysis click the Tools menu from the MusicIP MyDJ Plug-In and then the Options sub-menu. By checking the Use Extended Analysis checkbox and then clicking the OK button, all of your songs will be validated and prepared for use on this unit. 21

The box that appears will display the total number of tracks you have in your WMP library, the number of tracks that are ready to be used on this unit and the number of tracks that could use further validation or extended analysis. NOTE: Selecting a Processor Load of Maximum may significantly impact the performance of your computer. If you intend to use your computer while running Extended Analysis in the background, select Low.

USING THE MyDJ PLUG-IN (CONTINUED)

Checking for Mixable Tracks In order to use the MyDJ feature on this unit, you will need to add at least 25 tracks that have been analyzed using the MyDJ Plug-In. You can enable a column within WMP 10 that will indicate if the track is MyDJ ready by following the steps below: 1. In WMP 10, right-click on one of the column headings within your library. 2. Click on More at the very bottom of the list. 3. In the window that appears, ensure that there is a check next to Custom 1. 4. Click the OK button to save the preferences. 5. Within your library, scroll to the right until you see the Custom 1 column.

NOTE: For Windows Vista, please use Windows Media Player 11 to create the playlist.

Click the green arrow to the right of Input File to add files for conversion. In the Open window, select the source file you want to convert and click the Open button. The file will be added to the window of files to convert. Repeat this procedure if you want to add other files for conversion.

Open the previously installed MP3 Player Utilities 5.10 program (located on your computer under start > All Programs > MP3 Player Utilities 5.10 > Video Converter).

Now you can convert additional files according to the above procedures, if desired.

When Success appears in the Status column next to the File name, the file has been converted.

Click the Begin icon (see illustration on the previous page for icon location) to begin the conversion.

Set up the conversion settings, as desired. There are many items in the settings (such as selecting between Full Screen or Same Ratio), most of them do not need to be changed; keep the default settings. However, make sure to select AVI under Video Type. Then, click the OK button.

In the window of files to convert, place a checkmark in the Select column next to the File name of any files that you would like to convert. Then, click on the Setting icon (see illustration on the previous page for icon location).

TURNING THE POWER ON/OFF

GENERAL OPERATION

MENU/Lock BUTTON

To turn the unit on, press and hold the Power On/Off button; the Memorex screen will appear for a few moments followed by the Main menu. To turn the unit off, press and hold the Power On/Off button until Shutting Down appears in the display. NOTE: The Memorex screen will take several seconds to several minutes to update the players library depending on the number of songs that you have transferred to the player.

To Navigate the Menus: At any time, press the MENU/Lock button to go back to the previous screen/Main menu. NOTE: While you are in the Main menu, you can press the Navigation /Skip/Search o button to enter the Now Playing screen. You can also press the Navigation /Skip/Search n button or Enter/Play/Pause p button to advance to the next level in the menus based on your selection.

For the Lock Feature: With the unit on, press and hold the MENU/Lock button until LOCKED appears in the display; no buttons will function. This is useful when you do not want the track changed by accidentally pressing a button. Press and hold the MENU/Lock button until UNLOCKED appears in the display to cancel the Lock function.

Plug the headphones (included) into the Headphones jack on the top of the unit.

To control the volume, simply press the Volume +/- button during playback. NOTE: While changing the volume, the volume pop up indicator will be overlaid across the bottom of the existing screen and will disappear from the screen after three seconds if neither Volume button is pressed. You can close the volume pop-up by pressing the Enter/Play/Pause p or MENU/Lock button.

Turn the unit on and access the main menu as described on page 25. Select Music using the Navigation M button 1, followed by the Enter/Play/Pause p button 2.

Use the Navigation L 1 and/or M 2 buttons to browse through the music categories: Play Queue, Songs, Artists, Albums, Playlist or Genre. Then press the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3 to select that category. A list will appear separating the files into the selected search criteria; see the following page for more details.

NOTE: For the Playlist option, please see page 20 for how to create a playlist.

To browse through your music, see more details below: Play Queue: Play All, Clear All, Clear Track and the song's name will appear in the display. Select Play All or the desired song using the Navigation L 1 and/or M 2 buttons then press the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3 to start playback. The unit will play that song and the songs following it. Songs: The songs name will appear in the display. Select Play All or the desired song using the Navigation L 1 and/or M 2 buttons then press the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3 to start playback. Artists: All Artists will be shown in the display. Select Play All or the desired Artist using the Navigation L 1 and/or M 2 buttons then press the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3. Then, select Play All or the desired song using the Navigation L 1 and/or M 2 buttons then press the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3 to start playback. Playlist (if created): The Playlist will be shown in the display. Select the Playlist by pressing the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3. All the songs will appear; select Play All or the desired song using the Navigation L 1 and/or M 2 buttons then press the Enter/Play/Pause p button 3 to start playback. NOTES: See pages 18 and 19 for information on uploading MP3/WMA files to this unit. While you are browsing your music, you can press the Navigation /Skip/Search o or MENU/ Lock button to return to the previous menu. You can also press the Navigation /Skip/Search n button to advance to the next level in the menus based on your selection. You can pause playback at anytime by pressing the Enter/Play/Pause p button; the Pause icon will appear on screen and the song will remain paused until the button is pressed again. To set the Play Mode (Shuffle, Repeat All, Repeat One) setting refer to page 32. While in Music Playback mode, you can press the Navigation L button to toggle the Album Art between Default and Full Screen format. AUTO RESUME: Each time you exit the Music Playback mode or turn the unit off, when the unit is turned back on or you enter the Music Playback mode again, this unit will resume at the beginning of the last track which was playing before turning the power off or changing mode.

Esta unidad tiene una batera recargable integrada de polmero de litio. Cuando las barras en el indicador de la batera (en la pantalla) bajan (ver Figura 1), y en particular cuando las barras cambian a color rojo, recargue la batera de la siguiente manera. Conecte el cable USB al conector USB en la parte inferior de la unidad (como se muestra) y al puerto USB en su computadora;en la pantalla aparecer OK to Remove [Listo para ser quitado]. Cuando se est cargando, el indicador de batera parpadear entre vaco y la carga actual. Cuando la batera est completamente cargada, el indicador dejar de parpadear.

Procedimiento para instalar el complemento MyDJ: (para el Reproductor de Windows Media 10; vea los requisitos en la pgina anterior): 1. El Reproductor de Windows Media 10 nicamente es para utilizarse con Windows XP. Consulte la pgina 14 para saber como instalar Windows Media Player 11. Una vez instalado el Reproductor de Windows Media 10, puede transferir archivos MP3, WMA, WMA con DRM 9 10 a su reproductor usando la funcin de Sincronizacin. 1. 1. Abra el explorador de Reproductor de Windows Media 10 y haga clic en Sincronizar. 2. Haga clic en el men desplegable Lista de sincronizacin para encontrar los archivos de msica que desea descargar. Luego asegrese de seleccionar la casilla junto a los archivos. 3. TRANSFERIR ARCHIVOS MP3/WMA/FOTO Y ARCHIVOS WMA CON DRM 9 10 USANDO EL REPRODUCTOR DE WINDOWS MEDIA 10 (SLO PARA WINDOWS XP) Para transferir archivos MP3/WMA/FOTO/WMA con DRM 9 10 al reproductor, siga el procedimiento descrito a continuacin usando el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 previamente instalado. Antes de empezar con el procedimiento, conecte la unidad a la computadora como se describi previamente.

CREAR UNA LISTA DE REPRODUCCIN USANDO EL REPRODUCTOR DE WINDOWS MEDIA 10 Siga los pasos a continuacin para crear una lista de reproduccin en el men Msica, usando el Reproductor de Windows Media 10: 1. Conecte el reproductor al puerto USB en su computadora como se muestra en la pgina 7. Abra el WMP 10.

4. Cuando termine la sincronizacin, habr una nueva lista de reproduccin que puede encontrar en el men Msica.

El complemento MyDJ se abrir automticamente cuando inicie el Reproductor de Windows Media 10 la primera vez despus de la instalacin. (Si no tiene canciones en la biblioteca de WMP [el Reproductor de Windows Media], primero deber agregar algunas para poder usar el complemento MyDJ.)

CMO USAR EL COMPLEMENTO MyDJ

Presione el botn verde de INICIO para empezar el proceso para preparar su msica para MyDJ. Ahora podr ver el progreso de activar su msica dentro de la ventana del complemento MyDJ. Una vez completada la activacin de los archivos de msica, aparecer la opcin INICIO deshabilitada.

La primera vez que inicie el complemento MyDJ, le preguntarn si desea guardar la informacin de anlisis en sus archivos de msica. Eso significa que las pistas sern analizadas usando el complemento MyDJ de modo que funcionen con la funcin MyDJ en esta unidad.

Puede cerrar o minimizar las ventanas con las casillas Cerrar o Minimizar en la esquina superior derecha.

Para habilitar el Anlisis extendido, haga clic en el men Herramientas del complemento MyDJ y luego en el submen Opciones. Al marcar la casilla Usar anlisis extendido y hacer clic en el botn Aceptar, todas las canciones quedarn validadas y preparadas para esta unidad.

Anlisis extendido de su msica De modo predeterminado, el complemento MyDJ realizar el anlisis ms rpido del que sea capaz. Sin embargo, no todos los archivos dentro de su coleccin pueden ser reconocidos durante el proceso de anlisis rpido. En ese caso, puede usar la funcin Anlisis extendido del complemento MyDJ, que asegurar que todos los posibles archivos remanentes en la biblioteca WMP estn preparados para esta unidad.

El cuadro que aparece muestra el nmero total de pistas que tiene en la biblioteca WMP, el nmero de pistas que estn preparadas para ser usadas con esta unidad y el nmero de pistas que necesitan una validacin posterior o un anlisis extendido.

CMO USAR EL COMPLEMENTO MyDJ (CONTINA)

Comprobar si hay pistas mezclables Para poder usar la funcin MyDJ en esta unidad, usted necesita agregar al menos 25 pistas analizadas previamente usando el complemento MyDJ. Usted puede habilitar una columna dentro de WMP 10 que le indicar si la pista est preparada para MyDJ, siguiendo los pasos a continuacin:

NOTA: Seleccionar una Carga de procesador de Mxima puede tener un impacto significativo sobre el rendimiento de su computadora. Si pretende usar la computadora mientras ejecuta el Anlisis extendido en el fondo, seleccione Baja.

Puede utilizar las utilidades del reproductor de MP3 5.10 (Convertidor de video) antes instalado para convertir sus archivos de video en archivos AVI compatibles con el reproductor. Abra el programa MP3 Player Utilities 5.10 previamente instalado (ubicado en su computadora en Inicio > Todos los programas > MP3 Player Utilities 5.10 > Convertidor de video.

Repita este procedimiento si desea agregar otros archivos para su conversin.

Haga clic en el icono para Comenzar (vea la ilustracin en la pgina anterior para conocer la ubicacin del icono) para comenzar la conversin.

Defina las configuraciones de la conversin de acuerdo con lo que desee. La configuracin tiene muchos elementos (tales como seleccionar entre Pantalla completa o Misma proporcin), no es necesario cambiar la mayora de ellos, mantenga las configuraciones que se presentan predeterminadas. ENCENDER O APAGAR LA UNIDAD

BOTN DE MEN

Para encender la unidad, presione y mantenga presionado el botn de Encendido/Apagado (Power On/Off); aparecer la pantalla de Memorex durante unos minutos seguida del Men principal (Main Menu). Para apagar la unidad, oprima y mantenga presionado el botn de Encendido/Apagado (Power On/Off) hasta que en la pantalla aparezca Apagando (Shutting Down). NOTA: La pantalla Memorex tardar algunos segundos o minutos en actualizar la librera del reproductor, dependiendo del nmero de canciones que se hayan transferido al reproductor.

Para navegar por los mens: Oprima el botn de MEN/Bloqueo (Menu/Lock) en cualquier momento para volver a la pantalla anterior o al Men principal (Main menu). NOTA: Mientras se encuentra en el men Principal (Main menu), podr oprimir el botn de Navegacin /Salto/Bsqueda o para ingresar en la pantalla Reproduciendo Ahora (Now Playing). Tambin puede presionar el botn de Navegacin /Salto/Bsqueda (Skip/Search) n o Aceptar/Reproducir/Pausar (Enter/ Play/Pause) p para avanzar hacia el prximo nivel en los mens segn su eleccin.

Para la funcin de bloqueo: Con la unidad encendida, presione y mantenga presionado el botn Men/ Bloqueo (Menu/Lock) hasta que aparezca el BLOQUEO en la pantalla; no funcionar ningn botn. Esta funcin es til para evitar que la pista se cambie por presionar accidentalmente los botones. Presione y mantenga presionado el botn MEN/Bloqueo (Menu/Lock) hasta que aparezca el DESBLOQUEO en la pantalla para cancelar la funcin de bloqueo.

Conecte los audfonos (incluidos) en el conector de audfonos en la parte inferior de la unidad.

Para cambiar el volumen, oprima el botn para subir +/- bajar el volumen durante la reproduccin. Un mximo de 20 canciones se colocarn en la lista de reproduccin MyDJ. djMoods permite al usuario escuchar las canciones segn el nivel de energa de la msica. La tecnologa clasifica la msica en el dispositivo desde el nivel ms bajo 1 hasta el nivel ms alto 5. Segn el tipo de canciones cargadas en el dispositivo, el rango de 1 a 5 variar segn sea el caso. NOTAS: IMPORTANTE! Asegrese de que la resolucin de video sea de 128 x 128. Consulte las pginas 18 y 19 para saber cmo cargar archivos de video a la unidad. Con los botones de Navegacin L 1 y/o M 2 seleccione entre Vista de diapositivas (Slide show), Miniaturas (Thumbnails) o una fotografa en particular. Si ha seleccionado una foto en particular, presione Aceptar/Reproducir/Pausar (Enter/Play/Pause) p 3 para verla. (Para saber ms sobre la vista de diapositivas o miniaturas, consulte la pgina siguiente).

Oprima el botn MEN/Bloqueo (MENU/ Lock) en cualquier momento para volver a la pantalla anterior o al men principal.

Durante la reproduccin de fotos, oprima el botn de navegacin /Salto/Bsqueda (Skip/Search) n 1 o /o 2 para saltar a la siguiente fotografa o a la anterior.

NOTAS: Tambin puede cambiar entre el modo vista de diapositiva, automtico y manual con el botn Aceptar/Reproducir/Pausar (Enter/Play/Pause) p . Consulte las pginas 18 y 19 para saber cmo cargar archivos de fotos a la unidad. Si as lo desea, puede acompaar las fotos tambin con msica. Cuando est en el modo de Reproduccin de fotos (Photo Playback), puede presionar el botn de navegacin M para cambiar el formato entre formato de pantalla predeterminado y pantalla completa.

Formatear el reproductor ADVERTENCIA! No formatee el reproductor a menos que deje de funcionar y se lo indique el personal de soporte tcnico. 1.
