INTRODUCTION These days, plants are grown, crops are planted. These are done so we can eat and nourish ourselves and our families. There are some problems though. How to speed up planting and growing, how to make its quality better, etc. Fertilizers were invented during the 1730s to help with these problems. There were significant contributions by people like Viscount Charles Townshend, the chemist Julius von Liebig, Sir John Bennet Lawes. But these early fertilizers were made of animal feces and dung or decomposed plants or animals. The researchers want to find a way that regular Filipinos may be able to get fertilizers for their gardens or farms without going to the store and get chemical products or animal dung. The researchers want to try banana peels for this study. Bananas are fairly common in the Philippines since it is regularly grown and eaten. Banana peels are often thrown away, to make use of these peels, the researchers decided that these peels will be used for the study.
Background of the Study Fertilizers are very important for farmers and crop-growers. These days, fertilizers are used to make plants and crops grow faster and have better quality. Most fertilizers are animal wastes, urea and dung. Sometimes, dead animals are used as fertilizers as well. Some companies made chemical fertilizers. They are very harmful and spray harmful toxins on people if they are taken in by the lungs. Their quality can be considered on par with the natural fertilizers. Most plantations use these chemical aerial sprays that can harm the people living near the plantations or the farms. That is why the

researchers conducted this study. This study is about banana (Musa Acuminata) peels used as fertilizers instead of the chemical ones. Banana peels can be found everywhere, anywhere and anytime. These peels are very abundant in our country since our climate is suitable for the growth of these kinds of plants. We are also one of the major exporters in the Banana growing and export businesses. A good example would be the TADECO Farms and Plantations. The tropical climate of our country, the Republic of the Philippines, allows fruits like banana, mangoes and durian to thrive and be a staple dessert here in our country. These fruits are important for our economy as well. But what about simple edible plants like monggo (mung bean)? They are very important as well. These crops give a constant supply of energy and minerals for the regular Filipino. A regular Filipino consumes at least a quarter of a ton of monggo in his/her life. That is why monggo is the understudy of the researchers study. People tend to underestimate monggo and its vitamins and minerals. Some dislike monggo because they do not like it. Although for the researchers, they think monggo is a worthy study because it is very nutritious.
Statement of the Problem How do Banana Peels affect the growth and quality of the monggo seeds? Sub-questions: 1. Will the monggo die if banana peels are put because it is contaminated with decay? 2. How much water would be given to the monggo plant?

Significance of the Study It is significant because if the study is successful, the researchers could make a breakthrough. It is also significant because it gives plants good quality. The crop growers and the farmers would also benefit because their crops quality will be improved as well.
Beneficiaries Our study aims to help the farmers and the environment. People nowadays just take the monggo seeds (mung beans) for granted because we just think that its just for farming purposes. But although most of these seeds are used for farming, its still very important to us because monggo has a lot of vitamins and minerals for our body. Thats why monggo seeds are very common in plantations because it has constant supplies. We conducted this study in order for us to know the response of the monggo seeds to the banana peel because here in Davao City, the supply of banana is very constant. The study aims to plant monggo seeds using banana peels as fertilizers. This study will benefit the farmers because Davao City has a vast production of banana trees. Thats why it will be easy for them to make this study.Farmers who have interest in making this study will be provided with additional livelihood.
Scope and Limitation The researchers talked about it. Should the experiment fail or have an accident, the researchers will try again depending on how much time the current situation allows the researchers to have. The group has also discussed that the banana peel fertilizers may not work with other plants, therefore, should people testing this experiment may experience failure, it is advised that other fruit peelings or decomposed materials be used.
Would banana peels make a good fertilizer for growing potatoes? Here, MacGyver asks if banana peels can be used to grow plants. Marcent then replies that he can use banana peels to grow potatoes. Aside from banana peels, Marcent has used eggshells to do the same thing with roses.

In this article on eHow, eHow gives a concise step by step procedure on how to make a banana fertilizer. It will help the researchers save time on how to do the experiments. It also states in the article that bananas (Musa Acuminata) are rich in both phosphorus and potassium which are important macro-nutrients plants need. Fertilizers/Coffee Grounds/Egg Shells/Banana Peels This article mentions that almost everything can be a fertilizer. Eggshells to decayed Rose buds can be used as well. Bones from leftovers or even bones from dead animals can be used too.

In this article, a fan asks Mr. McCubin if coffee grounds or bananas are good fertilizers for plants. Mr. McCubin says they are and he lists down multiple reasons why. Banana Peels to Fertilize Fruit Trees The author says that bananas can be used to grow fruit trees. A bananas peel can develop strong roots and sturdy stems. Also, the peels are high in potassium. These encourage healthy production for the soil when added.

METHODOLOGY
Procedure 1. Preparation of Materials Needed 2. Peeling of the Bananas 3. Putting soil in the pot 4. Putting the Banana Peels on the soil 5. Planting the 10 monggo seeds 6. Put the pot on the garden 7. Observation of the growth rate of the plant 8. Record your observations day by day for 1 week
Statement of the Problem How do Banana Peels affect the growth and quality of the monggo seeds? Sub-questions: 4. Will the monggo die if banana peels are put because it is contaminated with decay? 5. How much water would be given to the monggo plant? 6. Is the quality of the plant affected?

Evaluation Data

The results of the sample experimentation was consistent because of the samples collected in the month of October. We gathered the results of our experimentation. Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5
Trial 1
The plant didnt grow yet but the monggo seeds sprouted.
The table shows that both plants grew well. We also have a successful experimentation because the plants pot A did grow well. The materials that we used agreed in the monggo seeds. We also notice that Pot B didnt grow well compared to pot A. I learned that two foods can make a nice plant. Having a banana peel in planting can make your plant grow fast.

Conclusions
Based on the data gathered, Banana peels are good fertilizers. Due to the cheapness and availability of the product, it may be used with ease. Banana peels are safer to use than chemical fertilizers. Chemical products or fertilizers may cause harm to some people due to irritation and prolonged exposure while banana peels are safe due to its simple and decomposed form.
Recommendations
Based on the drawn conclusions, the researcher would like to recommend the following:
1.) Conduct the experiment on a garden and try to plant different plant seeds to test its versatility. 2.) Try different fruit peelings or leftovers to substitute for banana peels. 3.) Conduct more studies to further improve the drawn conclusions.
