This document provides an overview of the course MECAE 204 DSP Algorithm and Architecture Design. The course is divided into four modules that cover: 1) DSP algorithm design including representations, quantization, and filter structures; 2) DSP architecture design such as fast algorithms, retiming, and VLSI performance; 3) DSP module synthesis including distributed arithmetic, elementary functions, and arithmetic unit architectures; 4) parallel algorithms and their applications to DSP algorithms including scheduling, projection, and data broadcasting. The course references eight texts on topics of digital signal processing, architectures, implementations, computer arithmetic, and parallel processing.
